Meet Lua a gentle 1.5-year-old girl looking for a family who will never leave her behind

Lua is 35 lbs, a wonderful medium size, with a calm, sweet nature. She is good with dogs and cats, gentle with children, and enjoys being close to her people. She has a moderate energy level—happy to go for walks, spend time with other dogs, and explore, but equally happy to settle down and relax at home.

Luas story is heartbreaking. She was found abandoned on the streets, sitting in the same place where her owners had left her. For days, she stayed there waiting for them to return. She didnt understand that they werent coming back—she simply remained where they had left her, hoping to see them again.

Thankfully, Lua was rescued by our partner, SOS el Arca Animal Rescue, and brought to safety. What is especially remarkable about Lua is that her experience hasnt changed her gentle spirit. She remains sweet, trusting, affectionate, and eager to connect with people.

Lua is intelligent, food motivated, and eager to please. She responds well to positive reinforcement and would benefit from continued training, not only to learn new skills but also to build her confidence and create a strong bond with her new family.

She gets along well with other dogs and could be a wonderful match for a home with a friendly, confident canine companion. Another dog could help her feel comfortable and secure as she adjusts to a new environment. However, Lua can also be happy as the only dog with a patient and loving adopter who will give her consistency, affection, and time to settle in.

Most of all, Lua is looking for something she has already waited far too long for: a family of her own.

She has an opportunity to travel to New York, but she can only make the journey if she has a confirmed adopter or foster-to-adopt home waiting to welcome her.
