Crusty (Outdoor Photos May 26 2026) - Terrier Dog Available for Adoption in Marietta, Ohio

Crusty is an adorable 10-year old male Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on May 23, 2026 by a Good Samaritan who found him in New Matamoras Ohio (exact location is unknown). Crusty was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped.

Crusty has a black wiry-haired coat with a patch of white on his chest, rather short legs, a short tail, and the cutest frosty Terrier face with dark brown eyes, silver eyebrows, short floppy ears, a black button nose, and a slender muzzle.

These updated photos of Crusty were taken on May 26th when HSOV Volunteer Jennie Payton Sherrard accompanied him outdoors for a short walk and bathroom break. Crusty was a well-behaved gentleman and thoroughly enjoyed scampering around in the green grass .. Crusty may be a senior citizen but he defied the chronological age on his kennel card (and, after all, age is only a number and doesn't define your abilities) (Smile).

Crusty weighs 20 lbs and is a petite little man when you see him in person.

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Crusty was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. Surprisingly, nobody called or came looking for Crusty.

Crusty was in desperate need of a dental procedure when he entered our shelter. You'll notice in his close-up facial pictures in these outdoor photos that there were streaks of blood on both of his cheeks :( Crusty was examined by one of our wonderful local veterinarians on May 27th who determined that he had several infected teeth. Crusty has a dental procedure scheduled in the future (tentatively on June 2nd), and we know he will feel like a different little dog.

Crusty will be available as a foster or foster-to-adopt after he recuperates from that surgery. Please complete/submit an HSOV adoption application for approval if you would like to give Crusty a loving home.
