Scooby Doo, 5 months (estimated DOB March 2026), neutered male, Shepherd mix, currently 35 pounds and expected to be a large size when fully grown. He is in a foster home in Austin, Texas and can transport once an adopter is approved through our process.

Like too many dogs, Scooby found himself at a shelter in San Antonio, Texas. He was at risk of euthanasia as there is simply not enough space to house all the unwanted animals. A foster step forward and now he's thriving!

Scooby Doo is the sweetest, softest, goofiest boy—and he's ready to find his forever family! With his adorable ears, serious eyebrows, incredibly soft fur, and silly personality, Scooby is the kind of pup who will make you smile every single day.

Scooby is a moderate-energy pup who enjoys a good play session but also knows how to relax. He loves roughhousing and playing with his foster dog brother, Rocco, and can happily keep up with a playful canine friend. Even better, Scooby understands when another dog has had enough and does a great job respecting their signals. He has also done well playing with other puppies at puppy day school.

When it comes to people, Scooby is friendly, affectionate, and excited to meet everyone. He absolutely loves getting pets and snuggling and can be a bit of a Velcro pup—although he is perfectly happy to wander off and relax on his own sometimes, too. His foster family describes him as having one of the sweetest and gentlest personalities.

Dog friendly: Yes! Scooby enjoys playing with other dogs and has done well with dogs 50+ pounds as well as puppies.

Cat friendly: Yes! He lives with three cats and generally ignores them. If he gets curious and follows one, he responds well to redirection.

Kid friendly: Scooby has done well with teenagers and was calm around a young baby. Because he can be jumpy and doesn't always realize his size, a home with children 10+ would be the best fit.

One of Scooby's biggest surprises? He's an excellent leash walker! He walks nicely on a loose leash without pulling, making those daily walks a pleasure rather than a chore. He enjoys getting out and about, although he's also perfectly content to relax afterward.

Scooby is still working on a few puppy basics. He's very close to being fully house-trained, but his new family will need to continue reinforcing his potty routine. He's also learning to keep his feet on the floor and remain calm when his people come home. He's treat-motivated and eager to learn, so we're confident he'll be a fun student for someone who wants to teach him some tricks and good manners.

Scooby hasn't been a huge fan of a traditional crate so far, but he does very well in a playpen and seems to prefer having room to stretch out while he sleeps. An oversized crate may be a great option for him as he continues becoming comfortable with confinement.

And then there are the things that make Scooby... well, Scooby.

He occasionally does the funniest little army crawl across the floor, loves lounging on his raised dog bed outside, has the most adorable ears, and sports some very serious eyebrows that don't quite match his goofy personality. He also has a hilarious little walk that adds even more charm to his already ridiculous cuteness.

Scooby isn't overly destructive, although like many puppies, he may occasionally investigate a shoe or decide a sweatshirt looks like an interesting chew toy. He's curious, smart, treat-motivated, and still discovering what kinds of toys he enjoys. He especially seems to like puzzles and activities that make him think.

Most importantly, Scooby is simply a really, really good boy. His foster family says they couldn't have asked for a better first foster puppy and have completely fallen in love with him.

Scooby's Perfect Home

Scooby would likely do well in a variety of homes. A family that can give him at least one daily walk, continued puppy training, plenty of love, and patience as he finishes growing into his manners would be ideal. He could happily live with another dog or potentially be your one-and-only.

If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate, goofy companion with a soft heart, a silly personality, and the cutest serious eyebrows around, Scooby Doo may be your guy.

Apply to meet this lovable boy—just be prepared to fall completely in love!

Please note our process starts with an application. If we think you might be a good fit, we will reach out to coordinate a phone interview. This is followed by a video call with the foster home. Virtual home visit, personal and vet reference checks are required to complete the process. Transport is included in our adoption donation.
