Mocha is one of those dogs who seems to have figured out that the good life is pretty great, and she's ready to soak up every bit of it. Almost 2 years old, Mocha is a 60-pound, spayed female Pit Bull/Husky mix with beautiful, striking eyes and an expressive face that makes it pretty hard not to fall for her. Affectionate, smart, silly, and incredibly loving, Mocha is happiest when she gets to be part of her peoples world.

Mocha is being fostered in Austin, Texas, and is available for adoption out of state. Transport can be arranged once she's matched with an approved adopter and is included in the adoption donation. Our adoption process begins with an application, followed by a phone interview, video call with her foster home, virtual home visit, and vet and personal reference checks.

Mocha was originally found as a stray, and thankfully, a wonderful foster family stepped up and took her in. She has now been with them for nearly seven months, learning what it means to feel safe, loved, and part of a family. They absolutely adore her and have gotten to watch her personality blossom along the way.

Mocha is affectionate and loves being close to her people, but she also appreciates having a little space and downtime of her own. Most days, youll find her lounging on the couch, relaxing on her bed, or happily hanging out in her crate. But mention a walk, grab the car keys, or suggest an adventure and shes suddenly very interested in your plans.

She has a lower to moderate energy level with a fun, playful side that tends to make an appearance in short bursts, especially in the morning. Shell happily play for five or ten minutes before deciding she has accomplished enough for the day. She loves toys, playing fetch with her stuffies, and chewing on a good bone or chew toy. Stuffed animals should be warned, though. Mocha has a particular talent for finding and removing that little white tag first.

Mocha has lived with dogs of different sizes and has also spent time with other large dogs outside her foster home. She has played, shared toys, and happily lounged on the couch alongside them. She's also been wonderful around dogs on adoption outings and walks, with no leash reactivity. At a recent dog-friendly winery, she greeted smaller dogs with adorable play bows and even gave a little whine when a nervous dog wasn't quite ready to return the invitation.

That said, Mocha can be selective about her canine relationships. She and one of the resident dogs in her current home have had conflicts, which is ultimately why her foster family is helping her find a different forever home despite loving her deeply. Mocha does not need another dog to be happy and would be perfectly content soaking up all the attention as an only dog. If she does share her home with another dog, a well-balanced canine companion and thoughtful introductions will be important to make sure their personalities are a good match.

Mocha has been absolutely wonderful with people of all ages. Her foster family has hosted gatherings ranging from around 10 to 25 people, with guests from 3 years old all the way into their 80s, and Mocha has handled it beautifully. She has calmly accepted attention from multiple children at once and seems genuinely happy to be included. She naturally gravitates a little more toward women, but overall, shes a loving girl who enjoys people. As with any dog, interactions with young children should always be supervised and respectful of her boundaries.

Shes also a great walking companion. Mocha walks nicely on leash and may occasionally pull a little when an especially good smell requires further investigation, but overall, shes easy to walk. Busy environments can sometimes make her unsure, but rather than reacting, she stays close to her person and looks to them for reassurance. She has also earned glowing reviews for her behavior at the groomer.

Mocha is fully house trained and loves her crate. She comfortably sleeps in it overnight and is also fine being left loose in the home. She's respectful of gates and boundaries and hasn't shown herself to be an escape artist or destructive around the house. She does have a funny habit of finding the shoe belonging to her favorite person when she's alone, apparently for a little comfort. Keep the shoes and recycling out of reach, give her something appropriate to chew, and she's a happy girl.

And the car? Mocha LOVES it. If you're looking for a dog who will happily hop in and come along for the ride, she's ready.

Mocha is smart and has responded beautifully to training. Early on, she showed some guarding around especially valuable bones and toys, but her foster family worked with her and that behavior quickly resolved. She has since successfully shared with both people and other dogs. She could continue polishing her recall and has picked up some alert barking from a resident dog, but shes eager to learn and has already shown how much she can accomplish with consistency.

Mocha hasn't been introduced to cats, so we don't know how she would do living with them.

Her ideal home doesn't need to be the most active one on the block. Mocha is perfectly happy spending much of the day lounging, but she loves walks, car rides, exploring new places, and spending time outside when her person joins her. More than anything, she wants to belong to someone. A big family, a small family, or one devoted person could all make her happy. She simply wants people who will include her in their lives and give her the love and security she deserves.

Her foster family describes her as a ball of love and a wonderful companion, and perhaps the best way to describe Mocha is this: the more love she receives, the more she gives back. Saying goodbye to her is going to be incredibly difficult for the people who have loved her these past seven months, but theyre committed to finding the home where she can spend the rest of her life being loved like the queen she is.

If you're looking for a smart, affectionate, slightly silly companion who loves a good couch nap just as much as a car ride or afternoon adventure, Mocha might be exactly who you've been waiting for.
