Meet Mack Truck
This sweet boy has managed to fit an entire lifetime of love into one goofy body.
Mack came to Beagles & Bentleys after being surrendered at the emergency vet following a traumatic accident where he was hit by a car. Since then, he has already undergone specialty surgery for a severely broken pelvis and has been recovering from a painful skin infection caused by long-term neglect. Despite everything hes been through, Mack continues to show the world nothing but love, trust, and resilience.
Hes healing beautifully. Since surgery, hes gained weight, his skin is improving, and his happy personality is shining brighter every day. He will continue to need medical care and monitoring as he recovers, but youd never know it from the way he approaches life... tail wagging, heart open, and ready to snuggle.
And speaking of snuggles... Mack specializes in what his foster calls attack snuggles. Hell gently shove his giant head directly into you demanding pets before slowly leaning his entire body weight against you like hes trying to become one with the couch. Personal space? Never heard of it.
Mack is sweet, goofy, and just a little aloof in the funniest way. He loves exploring with his nose, investigating absolutely everything for approximately 12 seconds before moving on to the next thing. He adores other dogs and loves to play, though he can get a little overly interested in butt sniffing at times. Hes crate trained, mostly house trained, great on leash, and already knows sit, stay, and come.
He does have one very important quirk: Mack will put anything in his mouth. In fact, he already required surgery after swallowing a corn cob, so his future family will need to be diligent about keeping unsafe items out of reach.
Cars and busy roads still make him nervous after his accident, which is understandable, but with reassurance and patience, he continues to gain confidence every day.
What makes Mack special: Despite unimaginable pain and hardship, he remains endlessly loving, trusting, and devoted to being close to his people.
If Mack were a celebrity: Kevin Hart because he somehow appears at your feet out of nowhere every five seconds
Dating Headline: Wears his heart on his sleeve
Superpower: Hoovering dropped food before it even hits the ground
Theme Song: Youve Got a Friend in Me from Toy Story
From Mack:
Hey... do you mind if I put my head here? Great. Im just gonna lean my whole body into you now. Perfect... this is nice... can we do this forever?
Mack Truck has survived so much already, but through it all, hes remained soft-hearted, affectionate, and full of joy. Hes not just looking for a home, hes looking for someone to lean on forever
He is being fostered in Richmond, VA and is up to date on core vaccinations, has been dewormed, neutered, microchipped, and is on monthly preventatives. He has been heartworm tested and is negative. His adoption fee is $375 and covers the cost of core vaccinations along with the cost of his care while in foster. We require that all adopters, regardless of the dogs age, are committed to ongoing training and socialization as part of responsible ownership. To apply to adopt Mack Truck, visit www.beaglesandbentleys.org/adopt.
Note: Sending a Petfinder inquiry is not submitting an application. We require a completed adoption application to move forward with adoption.
Beagles and Bentleys has an across-the-board evaluative process that we apply to every application we review that prioritizes our animals in need. We conduct a vet reference check (all resident dogs must be altered/up to date on dhpp/rabies and monthly preventatives, and cats must be altered and up to date on rabies) and a virtual home visit call where we discuss the adoption process and see your home.
