Meet Max!
Max is an approximately 5-month-old Mountain Cur mix who, along with his brother Peanut, was found abandoned as a stray. A kind finder cared for the boys for a couple of weeks, but due to their housing situation, they weren't able to keep them. So now Max is looking for a family of his own.
Max is a sweet boy with a gentle, slightly bashful personality. He isn't the first one to rush up and introduce himself, but give him a little time and encouragement, and you'll see what a wonderful puppy he is. He's affectionate and friendly - he just tends to take a little longer to decide that you're his new best friend.
Max has been around other dogs and children and has done well with both. Up until now, though, he has lived outside, so there is plenty about being a family dog that will be brand new to him.
At 5 months old, Max is at that perfect "older puppy" age - past the tiny-baby stage, but still young enough to learn and grow by leaps and bounds. His new family will need to be prepared to help him catch up on socialization, introduce him to all the sights and sounds of the world, teach him household manners, and work on basic training and potty routines.
Max may have missed out on some of those early experiences, but that doesn't mean he's missed his chance. With patience, consistency, positive reinforcement, and plenty of love, this bashful boy has so much potential.
He's ready to trade life outside for a warm home, a soft bed, and a family willing to show him all the things he's been missing.
