Galaxy - Pit Bull Terrier Dog for Adoption in Petersburg, Virginia

Galaxy is a 3 to 5 year old female pit mix weighing roughly 40 pounds, and she is a genuinely striking dog. She has a merle coat, a cream and pale grey base scattered with charcoal patches and speckles, with soft folded ears, warm amber eyes, and a wide grey nose. She is also every bit as sweet as she is good looking.

If you have been looking for a dog who is already comfortable in a home, Galaxy is that dog. She is house trained and crate trained, so the hardest early work is already behind her. She walks beautifully on a leash without pulling or lunging, which makes her a real pleasure to walk.

Galaxy is dog friendly and does well with other dogs. Her overall demeanor is calm rather than boisterous. She is affectionate without being pushy, and quick to stretch out and relax on the floor beside you.

Galaxy has not met children or cats since arriving at the shelter, so we cannot speak to either from direct experience. What we can tell you is that she is gentle, patient, and unbothered by handling. We recommend slow and supervised introductions in a home with kids or a resident cat.

For a family who wants a dog they can bring home and simply enjoy, Galaxy is about as easy as it gets. She asks for very little beyond a soft place to rest and people who want her around.
