Ram - Hound and Shepherd Dog for Adoption in Petersburg, Virginia

Ram is a 6 month old puppy, about 35 pounds and still growing, with the black and tan coloring of a hound, long velvety ears, and a tan mask across his face that makes every expression look like a question he is waiting for you to answer.

He came to us as a stray. He was found wandering with another dog at his side, and nobody knows how long the two of them had been out there looking after each other. Whatever Ram went through before he arrived, it did not put a dent in him. He is one of the friendliest dogs in the building.

Ram greets people like he has been waiting all day for them. He leans into a scratch behind the ears, he is soft and easy to handle, and he already knows sit. At 6 months old he is right in the window where everything you teach him is going to stick, so a family who keeps up with basic training and a puppy class will get a lot out of this one.

He is very dog friendly and would be delighted to join a home with another dog to run around with. He is also good with kids, which makes him one of the more flexible young dogs on our adoption floor. He has not been tested with cats, so slow and supervised introductions are recommended.
