đ Personality Snapshot
Describe in 3â5 words: Calm, gentle, easygoing, sweet, angelic
Energy level: Low to moderate
More people-oriented or independent?
A nice balance of both. Abby enjoys being near us and loves affection, but sheâs also perfectly content relaxing on her own.
How do they handle new situations?
Extremely calm and adaptable. On her very first day home with us, she happily let us give her a bath and blow-dry with absolutely zero fuss.
đ Social & Home Life
How are they with people (adults/kids/new people)?
Very friendly and welcoming. She greets people with the perfect amount of enthusiasm.
How are they with other dogs?
Very friendly and coexists beautifully with other dogs.
Cats or other animals (if known)?
We have another dog in the house and they get along wonderfully. Theyâve even started to play together a bit.
Behavior when left alone or when guests visit:
Very relaxed. She has welcomed guests into our home happily and was perfectly fine when we left for a few hours.
đ Training & Manners
Potty trained?
Yes. Abby is fully potty trained and has adapted quickly to going to the bathroom on the streets of New York. She usually goes within the first few minutes of being outside.
Crate trained?
We havenât used a crate, but we gated off a small area of our apartment and she has been completely comfortable with that setup.
Leash skills:
Excellent! She loves walks. As soon as I take her harness down from the hook, she gets very excited.
Commands known:
She knows how to sit and comes when called. On walks, if she starts sniffing something questionable, we can easily redirect her and she moves along.
đ Daily Life
Typical day with you:
Abby starts the day with some morning snuggles followed by a walk. Sheâs already developed a routineâshe usually goes pee right away in the same spot, then about half a block later she poops in another familiar spot. When we come inside, she calmly lets us wipe her paws.
After breakfast she enjoys a good nap, followed by a midday walk and more relaxing. In the evening she has dinner, some playtime (sheâs recently shown interest in toys and playing with our dog), and another walk before bed. Abby absolutely loves to cuddle.
Exercise needs:
A couple of short walks a day. She loves getting outside but doesnât need intense exercise.
Favorite activities or toys:
Napping is her favorite activity, though sheâs beginning to show interest in toys and playing with our dog.
đ± Growth Areas
Anything theyâre still working on?
Honestly, we canât think of anything! She has been an absolute dream.
What helps them succeed?
Love, affection, and a cozy place to relax.
đĄ Ideal Home
Only dog / With dog / Either:
Either
Good fit for apartment living?
Yes â she has adapted beautifully to apartment life in NYC.
Best type of household:
Moderate to calm. Thatâs what our home is like, and she has fit in perfectly.
Best adopter match:
Abby seems like she would thrive in many environments. Sheâs done wonderfully in the city, adjusting easily to apartment living and busy streets. That said, we think she would also be very happy outside the city.
She would make a perfect companion for almost anyoneâan older adult, a family, or anyone looking for a calm, loving dog.
đ Foster Note
Abigail is the perfect little teddy bear. She is truly one of the easiest, sweetest dogs weâve ever fostered.
After her long journey from Texas, Abby needed a bath when she arrived. She calmly sat in the tub while we washed her from head to toe without making a peep. She then sat patiently on a towel while we blow-dried and brushed her. Her gentle temperament was clear right away.
Even though sheâs only been with us a few days, she has already settled into a seamless routine. She quickly learned where she likes to go to the bathroom on walks and hasnât had a single accident in the house.
Abby loves affection and cuddling next to you, but sheâs also perfectly happy napping on her own. Sheâs friendly with every person and dog sheâs met and doesnât seem to have any fear around strangers.
One of our favorite moments is when we grab her harness to go for a walk â she gets so excited that she stands up on her back legs and waves her front paws in the air. It melts our hearts every time.
She knows how to sit, listens well on walks, and is easy to redirect if she starts sniffing something questionable. Sheâs surprisingly speedy once sheâs finished her business and really enjoys her walks.
Abby is incredibly quiet â she hardly ever makes a peep. She doesnât bark when the door buzzes, and even the very barky dogs in our building havenât rattled her.
She has also been wonderful with our dog. They get along beautifully and have even started playing together.
Abby is clearly very smart â she already recognizes our stoop and knows exactly where to go when we return from walks. She lets us wipe her paws without any fuss, loves food (not picky at all!), and hasnât tried to chew anything in our home.
We truly believe Abby would do well in many different types of homes. While we donât have children, her calm, gentle, and well-mannered nature makes us think she would do wonderfully with kids. She would also be a fantastic companion for an older adult or anyone looking for a sweet, easygoing dog.
Abby is simply a joy to have around.
