STEPHY

Papillon
April 27th
female, small, young

DESCRIPTION

Stephy, aka Little Baby
• Age / Size: 1 Yr, 11 lbs
Rescued in Texas

Foster Note

Stephy is truly the sweetest puppy I’ve ever met! Immediately upon meeting her, she showered me in kisses and cuddles. She is not shy and loves to approach strangers on our walks, which has allowed me to make new friends and brighten people’s day. At the end of a long day, I love coming home to her because she is truly so happy to see me. She is not afraid of new environments, so I love taking her with me wherever I go. What I love most about her is that she is such a cuddler. Stephy is super trusting, affectionate, and attentive. She will make an amazing companion to any human.

Personality Snapshot
•Describe in 3–5 words: Loving, Playful, Curious
•Energy level (Low / Moderate / High): High
•More people‑oriented or independent? People Oriented
•How do they handle new situations? She is a curious and energetic pup who is not afraid of meeting new people or dogs.

Social & Home Life
• How are they with people (adults/kids/new people)? Stephy loves to meet new people! She is very people oriented, and she makes new friends on almost every walk. She has been gentle with children we met on our walks.
•How are they with other dogs? Stephy is curious and open around new dogs. She can sometimes be timid around bigger dogs, but loves to meet dogs around her size. I usually take her to the small dog park to socialize.
•Cats or other animals (if known)? Stephy currently lives with a tortie cat. We have a barrier set up so my cat can approach Stephy when she feels comfortable to. They are still getting used to each other, and Stephy is always curious when my cat emerges.
•Behavior when left alone or when guests visit: Stephy is not timid around new people, she is very trusting and loving from the start. When left alone, she may whine for a few minutes, but ultimately settles down if she’s left in a quiet and familiar environment.

Training & Manners
• Potty trained? Yes
• Crate trained? Unknown
• Leash skills: We are still working on her leash skills as she is a puppy, but overall she is a great walker. I am teaching her to sit at stoplights.
• Commands known (if any): Sit, Jump.

Daily Life
• Typical day with you: Stephy wakes me up with kisses each morning. I take her out to pee immediately when I wake up and then we go on long walk in the park. After our walk, I feed her breakfast and she has a nap. Throughout the day, I take her for a few short walks. If she has to go outside, she will typically whine by the door. Around 6pm, I take her for another long walk to tire her out. I feed her dinner when we are home and she loves to play fetch with her toys. She loves to end the day cuddling in my lap.
• Exercise needs: Since she is a puppy, she is very energetic and requires a few long walks a day. I try to take her for at least an hour in the morning and an hour at night. She loves to play fetch with her toys.
• Favorite activities or toys: Her Lambchop and Gumby soft toys! She loves to chase birds on our walks.

Growth Areas
• Anything they’re still working on? We are working on her leash training and a few other commands such as “lay down” and “stay”. She is a super fast learner and has a lot of potential to learn more commands!
• What helps them succeed? Stephy is a very loving and loyal dog who aims to please her owner. She would succeed with positivity and reassurance in her training. She is food motivated, so I am using small training treats to teach her. Since she is still a puppy, she is working on learning commands, however with patience and training I know she will thrive.

Ideal Home
• Only dog / With dog / Either: Both! She currently is the only dog in my living environment, but I think she would thrive with another dog in the house since she is so playful. She gets along with other puppies and senior dogs.
• Good fit for apartment living? Yes
• Best type of household (active, moderate, calm): Active!
• What kind of adopter would be the best match? Someone who enjoys the outdoors and exploring. She has the stamina to go for short runs or hikes. She is also comfortable exploring new environments and would be a great travel companion. At the end of the night, she loves to curl up on your lap and cuddle. She would be great for anyone who wants a playful dog!
