Ziggy - Labrador Retriever Dog for Adoption in Bellingham, Washington

Hi, my name is Ziggy! I'm a RED pawprint, which means I need an experienced home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Sensitive, affectionate, loyal, nervous nellie in new situations but so, so sweet and silly once comfortable!
-Can Live with Kids: Potentially very calm, respectful, dog-savvy kids who can read/respect canine body language-- Ziggy can be fearful around commotion and with new people so a home with super young kids would not be a good match. At this time we're recommending ages 14+, pending an intro at the shelter.
-Can Live with Cats: Ziggy lived successfully with cat(s) in his previous home and should be fine doing so again after a slow, supervised introduction process!
-Can Live with Dogs: Yes, Ziggy lived successfully with dog(s) in his previous home and should be fine doing so again!
-Can do Apartment Living: Not recommended due to breed/size and sensitivity to noise/commotion... this big guy would really love a home with a yard where he can stretch his legs and not be bothered by lots of noisy neighbors coming and going!
-Potty Trained: Appears to be!
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Not required but would certainly help in forming a strong bond with his new person!
-Energy Level: Medium
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Neuter/microchip

Meet Ziggy, the gentle(ish) giant who is all legs! This handsome guy was surrendered to the shelter due to landlord issues. This big life change has been pretty stressful on Ziggy-- being quite the sensitive soul, the noisy chaos of shelter environment has not been easy on him. Once he's comfortable, Ziggy is a silly, super goofball who loves leaning into your legs for optimum pets/attention. His previous owner said their favorite thing about him is "how jolly he is." Ziggy may need a bit longer of an adjustment period to feel safe/comfortable in his new home, but once he does we know he will make an excellent lifelong companion for the right person.
