Mui - Jindo and Chihuahua Dog for Adoption in Danvers, Massachusetts

Mui is currently fostered in South Korea and will fly to the United States once matched with a suitable, fully vetted family. Every approved adopter receives a two-week trial and monitoring period with continued rescue support. Mui must be the only dog in her adoptive home.

Mui is calm, affectionate, observant, food motivated, and strongly bonded to her primary caregiver. She enjoys walks and outings but is equally happy resting quietly at home.

PERSONALITY
Mui closely watches her caregiver and often follows when her person moves. She comes over for affection, positions her body to show where she wants to be petted, rolls over for belly rubs, and naps beside her person. When her person is busy, she settles independently on her cushion or in her crate.
Mui may initially keep some distance from unfamiliar people, but treats and gentle interaction help her feel comfortable. Large movements and loud sounds can startle her.

PEOPLE AND CHILDREN
Mui is comfortable with both men and women. She walked normally and accepted petting from her foster on her first day. She permits unfamiliar people to pet her gently but may move away if they touch sensitive areas such as her paws, ears, or mouth. She has never growled at or bitten a person.
Mui generally likes children and has rolled onto her back for petting in front of a child. Calm, respectful interaction is best, especially while she is resting.

OTHER DOGS
Mui must be the only dog in her adoptive home. She is curious about other dogs but prefers to approach and sniff on her own terms. She may move away or growl when another dog approaches her directly or meets her face-to-face.
Mui spent one night in a home with another dog. She initially growled when the dog invited her to play, but both dogs later settled in separate areas and shared the home without further problems. She can temporarily coexist with a calm dog when both dogs have adequate space and careful supervision, but she does not want a resident canine companion.

CATS
Mui generally ignores cats that remain still. She once tried to chase a cat that suddenly ran during a walk. Compatibility with a resident cat is uncertain.

HOME BEHAVIOR AND ALONE TIME
Current Foster Schedule: Approximately 10 to 11 hours alone on weekdays

During the beginning of foster care, Mui howled and whined when left alone. A consistent routine, meals, and nosework enrichment helped significantly. She may briefly whine after an unexpected departure or during her first night in a new home, but she generally settles afterward.

POTTY TRAINING
Mui is reliably outdoor potty trained on her established routine. She has never had a bowel movement inside her foster home.
Rare urine accidents have occurred immediately after arriving in unfamiliar homes and during urgency or extreme excitement. She has not used potty pads or an indoor grass toilet successfully. Frequent short outdoor opportunities are recommended during the first days in a new home.

WALKS AND LEASH SAFETY
Routine: Short morning potty walk and longer evening walk
Weekend Activities: Parks, cafes, and other relaxed outings
Mui has a low overall energy level but enjoys her walks. She may resist when a walk ends earlier than she wants or when her person chooses a route she does not prefer. She may hesitate in rainy weather.
Mui recognizes her name, but her recall is not fully reliable. She is extremely food motivated and once slipped out of her collar while trying to reach someone carrying treats. Secure, escape-resistant walking equipment and careful leash handling are required. She should never be off leash outside a securely enclosed area.
Mui is not afraid of cars or bicycles, so her handler must remain attentive near traffic.

CAR RIDES AND TRANSPORTATION
Mui rides quietly in the car without reported motion sickness. She also handles public transportation well.

CRATE TRAINING
Mui understands the cue House and will enter her crate when directed. She associates the crate with meals and now increasingly chooses it as a quiet resting and sleeping space, especially when the room is bright or noisy.

GROOMING AND HANDLING
Bathing: Tolerates bathing but may move away from sprayed water
Brushing: Highly cooperative and may relax or fall asleep
Shedding: Noticeable during seasonal coat changes
Seasonal Care: Her foster brushes her daily during heavy shedding periods
Mui sheds lightly during other seasons and generally does not require frequent brushing. She is sensitive to hair dryers and other mechanical noises.

FOOD
Current Food: Oven-baked beef kibble
Feeding: Scheduled, measured meals for continued weight management
Favorite Treats: Meat, chicken, and sweet potato
Mui is highly food motivated and eats reliably even in unfamiliar places. She should not be free fed. Large vegetable pieces should be chopped, mashed, or mixed into her meal. She has no known food allergies.

DENTAL CARE
Mui had six broken, nonfunctional teeth extracted on May 29, 2026. Bones and very hard chews should be avoided, although she can eat kibble and moderately chewy treats. She prefers chewing on her left side.
Mui does not enjoy tooth brushing but accepts a finger toothbrush. Cleaning the outer surfaces is manageable, while reaching the inner surfaces requires patience. Her foster also uses dental and gum-support products.

RESCUE STORY
Mui was found wandering in a village in Hongseong and entered the municipal shelter with her puppy. She weighed approximately 5 kg or 11 pounds and had skin disease and heartworm at intake. Her puppy was adopted, while Mui received treatment and recovered in foster care. She is now healthy and waiting for a permanent family of her own.

Mui needs a calm, predictable home where she will be the only dog. Her family should provide daily walks, regular enrichment, measured meals, quiet resting spaces, and time to adjust after major transitions.
Her adopter must use secure walking equipment and take leash safety seriously. Mui is not looking for a canine playmate. She wants a person of her own, enjoyable walks, good food, peaceful places to rest, and a dependable routine.

The Chihuahua is a small breed famous for its confidence, loyalty, and big personality, despite its tiny size. Originating from Mexico, these dogs are known for their large, expressive eyes and alert, curious nature. Chihuahuas make excellent companions, forming strong bonds with their owners and displaying a protective nature. They come in a variety of coat colors and patterns, with both long and short coats, making them a diverse and adorable addition to any family.

The Jindo, a Korean native breed renowned for its loyalty, courage, and intelligence, is highly prized for its unwavering loyalty to its family. This medium sized, spitz type dog has a distinctive double coat that sheds seasonally. Known for their independent nature, Jindos require early socialization and firm, consistent training. With a strong prey drive and territorial instincts, they excel as hunters and watchdogs. Their deep bonds with their owners make them loving companions, albeit not suitable for inexperienced owners.
