RESCUE STORY

Dana gave birth at the Jeongeup shelter in South Korea. Tragically, none of her puppies survived, leaving Dana alone at the shelter. She was rescued shortly before she was scheduled for euthanasia and is now enjoying the safety and comfort of foster care while waiting for a family of her own.

PERSONALITY

Dana is calm, gentle, and people-oriented. She prefers being near her family and enjoys joining them for walks or relaxing by their side.

Dana is not interested in toys; her favorite activity is spending time with people, receiving attention, and going for walks.
She also comes when called and is generally easy to redirect.

PEOPLE

Dana is friendly with everyone and especially affectionate with her foster dad.
She follows her foster mom around the home and frequently seeks affection from her.
Dana is the kind of dog who really wants to be loved. She enjoys physical closeness and will happily come over to lean against someone when they sit down.

CHILDREN

Dana adores the middle school-aged boy in her foster home and often seeks him out for affection.
She is also friendly with gentle, respectful children.
Based on her foster experience, she could be a wonderful family dog for a home with respectful children.

OTHER DOGS

Dana lives peacefully with a 12-year-old Shih Tzu.
She is generally neutral toward dogs she meets on walks. With both large and small dogs, she may briefly sniff before continuing on her way. She does not appear particularly interested in playing with other dogs.
Dana can become jealous when another dog receives affection. If her foster family pets the resident dog, Dana may immediately come over and strongly request that the attention be redirected to her. She has not bitten or shown aggression in these situations.
Dana may also give a warning growl if another dog approaches while she is eating. She has never escalated to biting.
Dana would likely be happiest as the only dog, but could live with a calm, non-demanding dog who coexists peacefully.

CATS

Dana is not recommended for a home with cats.
When she sees a cat outside, she may try to chase it. She can be redirected with the leash and will turn away when her handler intervenes, but her interest in chasing cats makes a cat-free home the safest match.

HOME LIFE

Dana is calm and well-behaved indoors.
She lives with two adults, a middle school-aged child, and a senior Shih Tzu, spending much of her downtime relaxing on the sofa or floor, sometimes near the resident dog.
Dana is currently left home for approximately 3 to 4 hours at a time.
She has shown no separation anxiety and typically sleeps while her family is away.
She has not damaged household belongings or shown destructive behavior.

BARKING

Dana is very quiet in the home.
Her foster family has not observed nuisance barking or other significant vocal behavior.

POTTY TRAINING

Dana is currently fully outdoor potty trained and has had no accidents in the home.
Her foster family reinforces her outdoor potty habits with frequent walks, taking her outside up to 5 times per day.
Maintaining a frequent and predictable potty schedule during her initial transition to a new home will help her continue these excellent habits.

WALKS AND EXERCISE

Dana absolutely loves going for walks.
She receives at least 3 walks daily and enjoys her outdoor potty routine.
Dana walks nicely on leash and would love a family that enjoys regular daily walks.
Her typical routine includes a morning walk, an afternoon walk, and an evening walk.

ALONE TIME

Dana does very well when left at home for reasonable periods.
She is typically alone for 3 to 4 hours and generally sleeps while her family is away.
She has not shown separation anxiety, destructive behavior, or barking while alone.

CAR RIDES

Dana travels very calmly in the car.
During a drive lasting more than 2 hours from the shelter area to her foster home, she sat quietly without significant restlessness or excitement.
She appears to be an easy travel companion.

CRATE TRAINING

Dana remains calm when placed in a crate but does not typically choose to enter one on her own.
Her future family can continue building a positive association with the crate through treats and gradual training if crate use is desired.

GROOMING

Dana handles routine bathing and dental care without significant difficulty.

FOOD AND TREATS

Dana is an enthusiastic eater and is not picky about food or treats.
She eats her meals readily and enjoys a wide variety of treats.
Dana has no known food allergies.

RESOURCE GUARDING

Dana does not guard food from people.
She may growl if another dog approaches her food, but has never escalated beyond that.
If Dana lives with another dog, give meals and high-value treats separately so both dogs can eat comfortably.

CURRENT HEALTH

Dana is currently healthy. Dana previously had heartworm, completed treatment, and has since tested negative. She has no known allergies or current health restrictions. Dana should continue receiving veterinarian-approved flea, tick, heartworm, and internal parasite prevention every month throughout the year.

MEASUREMENTS

Neck: Approximately 16 inches
Chest: Approximately 24 inches
Back Length: Approximately 20 inches

IDEAL HOME

Dana would thrive with a family that wants a loving companion and has plenty of time to spend with her. She loves attention, affection, and simply being near her people.
Her ideal family will provide regular daily walks, plenty of physical affection, a consistent outdoor potty schedule, and opportunities to spend time together.
Dana would likely be happiest as the only dog so she can enjoy having her family to herself. A calm resident dog may also work if that dog does not compete heavily for attention or bother her while she is eating.
She would be a particularly lovely match for someone who wants a dog who will happily walk with them, relax beside them at home, and lean against them whenever there is an opportunity for affection.
Dana has already lost so much, but she has not lost her love for people. She is ready for a family who will give that love right back to her.
