If you're looking for a big, lovable, people-oriented family dog, Bavo or his sister Gretel may be exactly what you've been waiting for!

These beautiful Shepherd mixes are just over 6 months old and already around 60 pounds, so theres no question about it — they are going to be BIG dogs! But with their size comes the sweetest, gentlest personalities.

Gretel and Bavo absolutely love people. They have been handled, cuddled and loved since they were tiny babies, and it shows. They are affectionate, friendly pups who enjoy being close to their humans and soaking up all the attention they can get. They are wonderful with children and other dogs, and they have been around cats and simply ignore them.

Born on January 31, 2026, Gretel and Bavo were part of a litter of seven puppies who came into a loving foster home when they were only about a week old. From practically the day they opened their eyes, these puppies have known what it means to be safe, cared for and loved.

Their siblings have already found wonderful forever homes and are getting rave reviews from their adopters. Now Gretel and Bavo are the last two puppies from this special litter still waiting for families of their own.

They are smart, treat-motivated and eager to please. Theyve been working on all the things young dogs need to learn and are well on their way to becoming wonderful adult companions.

We believe they are Shepherd mixes, but whatever may be in their DNA, one thing is certain: these are going to be very large dogs with very big hearts.

Gretel and Bavo do not have to be adopted together. Each is ready to find a forever family of their very own.

Paws of Dixie Animal Rescue adopts local and in the New England area. Our adoption fee includes the spay/neuter, up to date shots, Microchip, Alabama Health Certificate, and the transport service to get the new family pet to you.

Please be advised that our volunteers are busy rescuing, transporting, and caring for our animals. We will respond to your application as soon as possible. Upon review of your application, the rescue in AL will contact you, so you can ask any specific questions that you may have.

NOTE: All Paws of Dixie animals are located in AL foster homes.

If there is more than one decision maker in the home, all of them should be in agreement.
