Dexter is an incredibly sweet, affectionate gentleman who has so much love to give. At 5 years old, he has that wonderful balance of maturity, companionship, and a loving personality that makes him such a special boy.

And here’s a little secret about Dexter... he thinks he’s a lap dog! Despite weighing 57 pounds, Dexter would happily curl up in your lap, shower you with kisses, and soak up every bit of affection you’re willing to give him. He’s a loving boy who simply enjoys being close to his people.

We saved Dexter off the euthanasia list at one of our local animal shelters after he was brought in by his family. They had too many dogs and were forced to surrender them. Dexter was one of them. So he’s used to being around other dogs.

One of Dexter’s most endearing qualities is how wonderfully well-mannered he is. Dexter is an absolute dream to walk on a leash! He walks beautifully beside you without pulling or tugging. Even when he sees squirrels or other dogs, he doesn’t feel the need to chase after them or drag you along. He simply continues enjoying his walk like the perfect gentleman he is.

He’s not asking for anything extravagant. Just a comfortable place to call home, enjoyable walks, loving hands to pet him, and someone who won’t mind a few extra kisses throughout the day.

You will get to meet Dexter over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience! We facilitate adoptions across the U.S. with USDA-certified transport teams to safely bring our animals to their new homes, with drop-off locations in CO, VA, NY, MA, WA, IL, AZ, OR, and MI.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.
