Meet Dorothy — a 4‐year‐old Beagle with a soft spirit and a heart full of sweetness. Around 20 pounds, she’s the perfect little companion, gentle, kind, and eager for the quiet comfort of a real home.

Dorothy was rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation where she and her siblings spent their lives chained outside. Some of the dogs from her group are missing teeth from chewing on their chains or eating whatever food they could reach on the concrete. Despite everything she endured, Dorothy remains incredibly sweet, patient, and loving. She’s the kind of dog who leans in softly, watches you with warm eyes, and chooses trust even after a life that gave her very few reasons to.

She gets along beautifully with kids, cats, and other dogs, and her calm, thoughtful nature makes her an easy fit for almost any home. Dorothy may not know much about toys or cozy beds yet, but she’s ready to learn what it feels like to be safe, cherished, and part of a family.

HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life!
