Matilda’s story may have started with hardship, but she is ready for the rest of it to be filled with love.

At 8 years old, and 19 pounds this Beagle came to us from a heartbreaking hoarding situation where she and her siblings spent their lives chained outside. Some are missing teeth from chewing on their chains and eating food from the concrete, reminders of a life no dog should ever have to experience.

Despite everything Matilda has been through, she has remained incredibly sweet and loving. She is discovering all the wonderful things life has to offer, from gentle affection and warm laps to simply having people around who care about her.

Matilda is a true lap dog at heart. Once she gets to know you, she loves being as close as possible, curling up beside you and soaking in all the attention she can get. Give her a little time to get to know you, and before long, you will have a loyal best friend who wants nothing more than to be by your side.

Her past may be part of her story, but it does not define the loving girl she is today. Matilda has so much love to give and is ready for a future filled with cozy naps, endless affection and a family who will cherish her forever.

HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life!
