Mavis - Beagle and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Aiken, South Carolina

Mavis has every reason to have given up on people, but instead, she chose love.

At 5 years old, and 20 pounds this Beagle was rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation where she and her siblings spent their lives chained outside. Some are missing teeth from chewing on their chains and eating food from the concrete. Despite everything Mavis has endured, she remains an incredibly sweet and loving girl with so much affection to give.

Mavis can be nervous with new experiences, but once she gets to know you, her heart opens completely. She is a true lap dog who loves being close to her people, soaking up affection and curling up wherever she can be nearest to you. Once you earn her trust, you have a loyal best friend who will cherish every moment by your side.

She especially loves kids and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. Having people and furry friends around brings out her sweet personality and shows just how much love this special girl has to share.

Mavis is also learning how to walk on a leash and discovering all the little things that come with being a beloved family dog. Every walk, cuddle and new adventure is another opportunity for her to experience the life she always deserved.

Mavis may have had a difficult beginning, but her story is far from over. She is ready for warm laps, loving people, dog friends and a forever home where she can spend the rest of her life knowing just how special she truly is.

Mavis is spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped.

HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life!
