Hi- I'm Chief! Through no fault of my own, I became an "until dog". Until I was no longer a puppy, and grew into the boy i was suppose to be.

Back in January, I was just a little 15 pound guy who thought I had found his forever home- until I grew too big. I didn't do anything wrong, but, what I thought was my forever family said I had to go, and that I grew too big. They tried to dump me in a kill shelter first, but luckliy HFG has a policy that all dogs come back to the place that saved them!

I'm now a 9 month-old Labrador Retriever mix who weighs 67lbs of pure love.
You may remember my mom- Vivian who was due to be euthanized at the Barnwell, South Carolina shelter simply because she was pregnant. Fortunately, HFG took the whole family in, and here I am!

I have never met a stranger, whether they have four legs or two and I'm sure to greet everyone with my stellar smile. If I really like you, I'll instantly melt and demand a belly rub. I get along wonderfully with cats, dogs and children- making me a great fit for any family dynamic.

Most of all, I'm looking for my forever. Somewhere full of people that will love me unconditionally, no matter my size. I'm housebroken, walk well on a leash and am working on perfecting basic commands with my foster mom.

HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life!
