Otis - Basset Hound Dog for Adoption in Lafayette, California

Meet Otis!

Short legs, big personality, and an absolutely ridiculous amount of cuteness!

Otis is a 5-month-old Basset Hound mix who looks like someone took a regular puppy, stretched him out, shortened his legs, and added a whole lot of extra chunk! This adorable little guy is long, low, thick-bodied, and sporting the cutest fluffy ears you’ve ever seen.

And can we talk about that coat? Otis has the most unique black-and-white markings, almost like a little Harley Quinn costume. He’s truly one of a kind!

But his personality is even better than his looks.

Otis is happy-go-lucky, social, goofy, affectionate, and just an all-around wonderful little puppy. He loves other dogs, enjoys playing, and has such a fun, easygoing personality. He’s the kind of dog who makes everyone smile without even trying.

Otis came to us as an owner surrender, and while he’s absolutely adorable, he’s also very much a puppy who hasn’t had the opportunity to learn basic manners or training just yet. He’s still working on house training and needs a family who understands that puppies require time, patience, consistency, and commitment.

We are looking for a forever home that will invest in positive reinforcement training, daily exercise, continued socialization, and plenty of enrichment to help Otis grow into a confident, well-rounded adult dog.

He absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive as a second dog with a friendly, playful canine companion. However, he could also do wonderfully as an only dog with an engaged family who has the time to give him plenty of attention, activity, and social opportunities.

We estimate Otis will be around 25 pounds full grown, although that’s simply our best guess. With his unique build and mystery mix, only time will tell!

Otis is the perfect combination of silly, sweet, chunky, and charming. He may have little legs, but he has a whole lot of personality and an entire lifetime of adventures ahead of him.

If you’ve been dreaming of a low-riding, floppy-eared, happy little sidekick who will keep you laughing and fill your home with love, Otis might just be your perfect match!

Adoption fee is 800

The Basset Hound is a unique and recognizable breed known for its long body, droopy ears, and soulful eyes. Originating from France, they were originally bred for hunting small game like rabbits due to their keen sense of smell and sturdy build. Despite their laid back and affectionate nature, Basset Hounds are also persistent and independent thinkers, which can make training a bit challenging. With their low energy levels and love for lounging, they make wonderful companion dogs for families seeking a loyal and easygoing pet.
