Britches - By Appointment Only - Australian Shepherd Dog for Adoption in Phoenix, Arizona

Well, butter my biscuits and loosen my belt loops! Britches is a gorgeous 7-year-old Australian Shepherd who came into rescue with her entire family and a little more fluff than any pair of britches should reasonably be expected to contain. At 75 pounds, this beautiful girl is working on her fitness goals, and she's already making progress. Turns out, there's a stunning Aussie underneath all that extra padding—and she's beginning to show us just how lovely she really is.

Britches takes a little time to warm up to new people, preferring to make sure you're worth her time before handing over her heart. Frankly, we respect a woman with standards. As she's gotten more comfortable and started shedding some of that extra weight, her warm personality has begun to emerge. It's been a joy to watch her come into her own, one small victory at a time.

Now, this girl would love a fitness partner! No need to show up in matching athletic gear or start training for a marathon. Britches needs someone who can help her continue her weight-loss journey at a healthy pace, celebrate her progress, and make moving more part of the fun. Think leisurely walks that gradually build into longer adventures, plenty of encouragement, and a standing appointment with the treat jar—for sensible portions, of course. She's got goals, and she'd appreciate a teammate who doesn't quit after one lap around the block.

At 7 years old, Britches has earned the right to take life at her own pace. She doesn't need to be the fastest Aussie on the trail; she just needs a family willing to help her feel good, get healthier, and enjoy all the wonderful things still ahead. Her confidence is growing right alongside her fitness, and we suspect the best version of Britches is still waiting to bust out of those britches.

Britches is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and negative for heartworm and tick disease on her 4DX test. If you're looking for a gorgeous companion whose glow-up journey comes with a side of loyalty and a whole lot of heart, Britches is ready to meet you. She's already putting in the work. Now she just needs someone in her corner!
