Meet Lily: The Little Street Survivor with a Big Heart
Name: Lily
Breed: Black Mouth Cur/Terrier Mix
Age: Approximately 2-3 months old
Weight: 20 lbs
Some dogs come into rescue with heartbreaking stories, but Lily's story is also one of kindness, hope, and second chances.
This sweet girl was being given away on the streets of the Bywater neighborhood in New Orleans. The man who had decided that Lily's life had little value tried unsuccessfully to hand her off to passing strangers. When no one took her, he simply left her standing on the street and walked away.
Fortunately, one compassionate Good Samaritan saw something different. She saw a puppy whose life mattered. She scooped Lily up and brought her to safety. Unable to keep her permanently, she reached out to Take Paws Rescue, and a loving foster stepped forward to help.
At just 2-3 months old, Lily arrived with a belly full of worms and a future that looked uncertain. Today, those pesky worms are gone, her tummy is full of nourishing food, and this little survivor is blossoming into the happy puppy she was always meant to be.
Lily is everything a puppy should be:
Playful and full of joy, with the occasional case of puppy zoomies.
Loves her chew toys and discovering the world around her.
Absolutely adores snuggling with her people and would happily spend hours curled up beside you.
Friendly with other dogs and eager to make new friends.
Hasn't met a cat yet, but she'd probably think having a feline sibling sounds like a great adventure!
Smart and eager to please, thriving on praise as she learns new things.
This clever girl is working on potty training, walks surprisingly well on a leash for such a young pup, and can't wait to master commands like "sit" and "stay."
Lily has already survived being abandoned and forgotten. Now she's ready for the part of her story where she becomes someone's cherished best friend.
Could that someone be you?
If you're looking for a playful companion, a professional snuggler, and a puppy who will love you with her whole heart, Lily is waiting to meet you.
She promises plenty of kisses, endless cuddles, and a lifetime of gratitude for the person who gives her the forever home she deserves.
