April - Anatolian Shepherd and Caucasian Sheepdog Caucasian Ovtcharka Dog for Adoption in Amarillo, Texas

April is a 2-year-old Great Pyrenees / Anatolian Shepherd or another livestock guardian breed mix, who is ready to find the forever home she deserves.

April's story is one of incredible resilience. She suffered a devastating injury to her back leg that led to a severe infection and ultimately amputation. Despite everything she endured, April has remained sweet, loving, and full of life. Today, she is a happy, healthy tripod who doesn't let having three legs slow her down.

She is crate trained, leash trained, and potty trained. April enjoys walks, hikes, spending time outdoors, and relaxing with her people. She is a large girl with an even bigger heart and loves affection and attention from those she trusts. She is the kind of dog who is simply grateful for every day and every person who shows her kindness.

April does well with calm dogs her own size but can become annoyed by high-energy small dogs, likely because they can be difficult for her to navigate around as a tripod . She would do best in a home with respectful canine companions or as an only dog. No dogs under 30lbs would be best. We believe a cat-free home would be the best fit for her.

As a livestock guardian breed mix, April will thrive with a family that understands and appreciates her breed traits. She would love a home with a securely fenced yard where she can stretch her legs, enjoy the outdoors, and be part of daily family life. Whether it's a leisurely walk, a hike, or simply lounging beside her people, April is happiest when she is included and loves just hanging out at home.

April has already overcome tremendous challenges and is more than ready for her next chapter. She is looking for a loving home where she can continue to enjoy life, share her loyal heart, and finally receive the happy ending she has earned. If you're searching for a devoted companion with an inspiring spirit, April may be the perfect match for your family.
