Hash Brown, Hash for short, is currently about 5-6 months old and weighs approximately 45-50 lbs. One of his siblings had a DNA test completed, which came back as 33% Border Collie, 33% Australian Cattle Dog, 25% Australian Shepherd, and the remaining percentage Great Pyrenees. While Hash himself has not been DNA tested, the results give us a good indication of the breeds present in his litter. We expect Hash to mature into a medium-large sized dog.
Hash is an incredibly sweet, affectionate and people-oriented puppy who loves being included in whatever his people are doing. He is very food motivated, a very quick learner, and genuinely enjoys training. He is currently working on mastering sit, down, spin, and a whistle recall and catches on to new commands and tricks very quickly.
Hash is also fast, agile and confident in his environment. He has shown no hesitation with different surfaces or new things underfoot and is comfortable navigating his surroundings. Combined with his intelligence, food motivation, willingness to work and athleticism, we think he could have a lot of potential for agility, obedience, rally, scent work or other dog sports as he gets older.
He also has plenty of energy and loves having something to do. Hash would be a great fit for someone who enjoys hiking, camping, exploring and generally bringing their dog along for adventures. He loves the water and will happily swim in a puppy pool or a larger pool, including one around two feet deep.
Hash has a great ability to go with the flow. He loves wrestling and playing with other dogs and enjoys being part of the action, but when his person is ready to work with him, he can shift his focus and is very engaged. He has been doing well with dogs, cats and children in foster care. He is crate trained and is making good progress with house training, leash walking and using a doggy door.
Hash is still a young, growing herding-breed puppy and is entering his teenage phase. As he gets bigger and stronger, we are looking for a home that understands the needs of an active, intelligent young dog and is willing to continue working with him. He does well with kids, but because of his size, energy and age, we feel he would be best with sturdy, dog-savvy children around 8 years and older, at least while he continues developing his manners and training. Families who are experienced with dogs and confident continuing his training may also be a good fit.
Hash is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, including 4 DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies, dewormed, current on preventatives, has a negative fecal test, and has received veterinary health clearance.
Hash has a lot of potential and is the type of puppy who could really thrive with someone who enjoys training and wants an active dog to participate in life with them. He is affectionate and people-focused, loves other dogs, loves to learn and is happiest when he gets to be involved.
