There's nothing quite like the fun and silliness of a sweet young dog...and then when they put their heads quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm breath, you absolutely fall in love. These very sweet and loving young dogs are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them homeless and hungry on a city street or in a high-kill shelter with euthanasia pending due to a lack of space.
Peaches, at just about 2.5 years old and 44 lbs was facing the end of her life before it ever really began. Fortunately, Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their backs on this gorgeous girl with the great temperament. They rescued Peaches just in the nick of time to spare her life.
Volunteer Notes:
When I tell you I've fallen in love with this girl, it is an understatement. She is such a fun sweetie to be around. Miss Peaches is one of the happiest dogs ever with a non-stop waggie tail and a silly smile as if she doesn't have a care in the world.
Miss P and I loved being outside together this morning. Honestly I could have spent all day with this incredibly sweet girl. I couldn't help smiling at Peaches low rider body giving her a ridiculously goofy look.
There's no question that Peaches absolutely loves treats and loves me almost as much. She’s a very affectionate little girl and proved it during her temperament testing. She had excellent scores and seemed to know it as she strutted around enjoying the company of the other dogs (she's so great with them)!
This wonderful family dog deserves 100% to have her forever home with somebody that absolutely adores her. She definitely deserves to be spoiled every day for the rest of her life!
Peaches is only between 2 & 3 years old, and her short shelter record tells a heartbreaking story of a young dog who may have already endured significant hardship. Peaches came to Houston's high kill shelter after a report describing her as emaciated and living in a filthy trailer behind a property.
Her field rescuers were appalled at her living conditions while being surprised by her excellent temperament and very sweet nature. Most importantly, they felt that Peaches deserves pure love, stability and compassionate care in her life.
It was clear after her arrival at the shelter that Peaches is starting out with great energy. The excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a brand new life. She's also very beautiful with gorgeous dark eyes displaying wisdom far beyond her years.
Peaches has a stunning short-haired coat that sheds very little if at all. Sadly, her hair is currently shelter-sad but once on a regular protocol of care, it will be gorgeous, cottony soft and shining with excellent health. This sweet girl will require a lifelong commitment to periodic sudsy baths / brushing and excellent nutrition to keep her coat super- soft and shining with great health.
Current research is clear that the best diet for a dog is a natural, real food diet. This natural nutritional diet will cut down on vet visits as well as add years to a dog's life. Farfel's has had experience with Chi Diet (chidog.com). It saved the life of our dog and we wholeheartedly recommend it for yours.
Peaches is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's also so loving and cuddly. This little girl would be very excited to be a couch potato and snuggle with her favorite people at the end of an active day. She's also SO smart and engaging - very typical of a purebred American Bully. Many lovers of this gorgeous breed would say they're among the most beautiful, intelligent and engaging in the dog world.
Since Peaches is just a young pup, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome family companion. Peaches will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through virtual or in-person positive reinforcement training classes. This training experience will make a profound difference in a dog's behavior and their relationship with their people. It does take time and commitment yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior.
We feel very strongly that every dog and their family deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement training classes. We therefore aren't willing to adopt Peaches out to a home that doesn't choose to offer her this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved virtual or in-person positive reinforcement / force-free trainers in your area.
We're open to Peaches finding her forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart pup. Peaches enjoys her relationships with all humans and dogs, we would prefer however, to place her in a home with older kids only (tail pulling or rough treatment by young kids will create an adult dog that's fearful of children). Older kids can be active participants in a training regimen and friendship that's so important in a dog's development. Peaches enjoys her relationships with other dogs as well and would love playing hard and enjoying the sunshine with a canine friend on a beautiful day.
Peaches will be up to date on her vetting / vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. She has also been spayed in our quest to make a euthanasia-free future in the canine population a reality.
Peaches will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Wednesday 10/28/2026. Applications are currently being accepted for this beautiful, very sweet and loyal best friend. An application can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.
**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Peaches please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool we have to determine a great match for this very deserving pup. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
