Igris - Domestic Short Hair Cat for Adoption in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Meet Igris, a handsome panther kitty who came to us from Jackson County. Not all animal rescues have a physical presence and rely on fosters. because of Igris's FIV status they knew it would take a while for him to be adopted and did not want to use their desperately needed fosters.

Igris was likely abandoned or perhaps got lost but he was once an owned cat who sadly was found out in a world difficult for him to navigate. He came across more aggressive, streetwise cats and was given Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) by a bite wound.

Cats with FIV still enjoy long, healthy lives, much like cats without the virus. With regular vet check-ups, a balanced diet, and being kept indoors to minimize exposure to other infections, FIV-positive cats can thrive and live just as long as their FIV-negative counterparts. FIV cannot be transmitted through shared drinking and eating bowls nor litterboxes. Second Chance has successfully adopted out many loving, FIV kitties who have peacefully co-existed with other kitties here at the shelter.

Igris is an absolute lovebug. He craves human affection and attention, loves pets and kisses. He is relaxed and chill which is quite amazing after everything he has endured. He still trusts people and wishes to be part of a family again. If you are wondering about the name Igris, he came to Second Chance with that name. Igris most famously refers to the Blood-Red Commander, a loyal knight and shadow general in the popular webtoon and anime series Solo Leveling. We are not that well versed in webtoons but we agree Igris is loyal and commands attention.

Igris would be great for any type of adopter; single, couple or a family. He could also easily be part of a multi-cat household of friendly, non-aggressive kitties.

Igris has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Igris has an approximate birthdate of 09/21/2024. His adoption fee is $95.
