Buddy - Tabby Cat for Adoption in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Meet Buddy, a handsome chill patch tabby who came to Second Chance from an overcrowding situation on the east side of the state.

Buddy is very sweet and a bit tentative. He is in foster care where his confidence has grown. His foster Mom says Buddy "likes to observe the world from a corner perch. He will approach for pets when he wants them, but otherwise is content with his own company. Very low maintenance".

Buddy would be great for an adopter looking for a companion who doesn't ask for a lot. A companion who is affectionate but not needy. A companion who is good with giving his adopter personal space. Buddy loves wet food and this is a great way to bond with him. Buddy has a food sensitivity and is on a special dry food which keeps his food allergy under control and gives him a beautiful coat.

Buddy has FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). Cats with FIV still enjoy long, healthy lives, much like cats without the virus. With regular vet check-ups, a balanced diet, and being kept indoors to minimize exposure to other infections, FIV-positive cats can thrive and live just as long as their FIV-negative counterparts. FIV cannot be transmitted through shared drinking and eating bowls nor litterboxes. Second Chance has successfully adopted out many loving, FIV kitties who have peacefully co-existed with other kitties here at the shelter.

Buddy would be great for a single adopter, a couple, or possibly a family with older respectful kids. Buddy appreciates a calm, quieter routine and the ability to look out a window. Buddy would likely do best as an only cat because of his food sensitivity but could possibly cohabitate with a calm, non-assertive cat if each cat had their own chip read food bowl.

Buddy has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Buddy has an approximate birthdate of 05/27/2023. His adoption fee is $95.
