It’s not uncommon for us here at GLPR to end up with birds from the pigeon racing industry. Chunky is yet another soul who has made their way to us so that they could have a better life. Chunky is a uniquely colored bird. They have the cutest softest ash gray head ready to receive scratches, pets, and maybe even kisses. They have a shiny dark bronze chest that contains the faintest hints of green and purple. Their wing feathers are a mosaic of white and light brown patches. Chunky is also adorned with brown racing stripes and a beautiful white tail. The pigeon racing industry puts beautiful birds like Chunky in a lot of danger; they are forced to fly long distances out in the open, exposing them to predators such as hawks. In addition, many birds end up injured, lost, or get separated from their mates. We are glad that Chunky has made their way to us. We can’t tell what kind of experiences they went through as a racer but we can certainly promise Chunky that from now on there will be no harsh expectations. Chunky is guaranteed to do all of the things you’d expect a bird to do: flap their wings, eat seed in the messiest way possible, happily bathe, walk in circles, bob their head, and supervise as many of your activities as you’ll allow. Most importantly, Chunky is ready to be your loyal companion and shower you with love and affection in the form of cuddles, coos, and happy little wing twitches.
