Meet Mighty & Chickadee, a truly remarkable young couple! Mighty was found as a tiny baby with a significant head injury that resulted in the loss of an eye. His finder was walking home from the train when they spotted a tiny little bird covered in blood and barely alive on the ground. Mightys finder saw that spark of life still fighting and immediately took him home, determined to get him help, then brought him to GLPR. That split-second decision to stop, to care, to fight for this little lifethats what saved Mighty! Against all odds, this spunky little fighter pulled through! Mighty is now defying all of the odds and proving every single day that hes one of the strongest, most determined birds youll ever meet. Hes full of so much life that its almost hard to believe he was once that tiny, bloodied baby barely clinging to survival. Mighty has transformed into a fully grown and healthy bird who radiates energy, joy, and unstoppable spirit!
What makes Mighty extra special is his personality - this boy LOVES attention and isn't shy about demanding it! Having one eye hasnt slowed him down even a little bit. Mighty has adapted beautifully to monocular vision and navigates his world with impressive confidence and skill. He wants to play, play, play all the time! This energetic boy is constantly ready for fun, interaction, and games. His enthusiasm for life is absolutely contagious and never fails to bring smiles to everyone around him!
Mightys zest for play and enthusiasm for plush toys is shared by his adorable wife Chickadee.
Chickadee is the sole survivor of a barn cat attack that she was mercifully too young to fully understand. She was a baby when it happened, hand-raised from that point forward by people who made sure she knew, from the very beginning of her life, that humans are safe and shoulders are an excellent place to be. She got her name honestly. The feathers on the back of her neck never grew in a lasting trace of the injury from the cat, healed over and entirely unbothering to Chickadee herself, who has not spent a single moment of her life concerned about it. The result is that she perpetually looks like a little chick: that bare patch giving her a perpetually baby-ish, wide-eyed quality that is, in combination with her actual personality, almost unfairly endearing. What she is, in practice, is confident. Playful. Deeply interested in people and what theyre doing and whether there is a shoulder available, because shoulders are Chickadees preferred operating altitude and she will make her way to yours with the purposeful ease of a bird who has done this many times and found it consistently excellent. She loves attention, and she is not shy about pursuing it. The barn is long behind her. She lives in the world of people now, and she has fully committed to that arrangement!
Mighty and Chickadee are looking for a forever home that can provide the attention and playtime they both crave! They need active, engaged adopters who will celebrate their spunky personalities and most importantly, play with them because thats what makes Mighty & Chickadee happiest! If you're ready for an energetic, attention-loving, duo who defied death and emerged as two of the most spirited birds youll ever meet, Mighty and Chickadee are ready to play their way into your heart!
