Bobo, a 28-year-old severe (not at all!) macaw, is the best buddy you've always wanted. This sweetheart came to STAR when her elderly owner could no longer care for her well and made the difficult decision to let us find her the perfect new home. Bobo, while tolerant of others around her, is a one-person bird who prefers women. She will usually step up when outside her cage, but she is quite clear when she doesn't want to. As with most parrots, you need to pay attention to her body language, or you might get a little nip!
Bobo enjoys sitting by a window watching the neighbors, carefully dipping each one of her Harrison's pellets in water before nibbling it, dancing (often accompanied by an enthusiastic "Woowoo!"), and taking a treat from anyone who will give her one. But her greatest desire is to be with her person. She takes a few days to warm up, but once she does, she is a true shoulder bird and would be perfectly content if you never put her down. Beautiful Bobo is not much of a talker, except for her frequent little "check-in" squawks to let you know, "Hey, I'm still here!" She doesn't do any tricks that we've seen. But if you are the lucky person to bond with her, you will have a lifetime bestie with whom to cuddle up, give dramatic kisses, and exchange knowing glances.
Bobo's ideal adopter will have lots of time to hang out with her, a sturdy shoulder for her to perch on, and plenty of yummy snacks (bananas are her favorite). While Bobo is a relatively quiet representative of her species, she can still be loud when she's excited, so she would do best in a home without shared walls. This darling girl will be a devoted companion for a loving person. If you can't resist those soulful macaw eyes, apply to adopt Bobo! Adoption fee: $500
