Meet TOBY

Toby is a 3-year-old, 25-pound wiry-haired terrier mix with the sweetest little scruffy face and a gentle personality to match.

He can be a bit reserved at first, but once he feels safe, Toby really starts to shine. He's affectionate, loving, and happiest when he can be near his people. He also loves spending time in the backyard, especially if there are lizards to investigate.

Toby is dog friendly, kid friendly, crate trained, and seems to be potty trained. He's still working on his leash skills, and cats are unknown.

Toby is neutered, up to date on vaccines and prevention, and heartworm negative.

He's the kind of dog who may take a little time to open up, but once he does, he gives you the sweetest little piece of his heart. Toby is just looking for a family who will give him the love, patience, and cozy place to land that he deserves. PLEASE READ BELOW:

All known details about our animals are posted on their profile and updated daily. Other info will be discussed in detail with the foster during the application review process. Due to the high volume of introductions/questions received we ask you to submit an application (that application can be used for any dog with Take Paws Rescue).

The adoption fee for adult dogs covers age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, spay/neuter if not yet performed, heartworm test & appropriate heartworm treatment by the rescue's vet. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention.

***Take Paws Rescue, based in New Orleans, saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it's the perfect match!

The Wirehaired Terrier is a charming and energetic dog breed known for its shaggy coat and lively personality. Originating from terriers bred for hunting small game, they are intelligent, spirited, and make loyal companions. Their wiry coat requires regular grooming to prevent matting, and they thrive on ample exercise and mental stimulation. With proper training and socialization, Wirehaired Terriers can be excellent family pets, excelling in activities such as agility and obedience.
