** If you are interested in adopting Eloise, please fill out an application at: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application **

Eloise is a sweet, playful 9-10 month old terrier mix that weighs 45 lbs. She is estimated to be around 50 lbs when she is full grown. She is best described as affectionate, loving, silly, and incredibly playful, with a heart that is just as big as her personality. She forms strong bonds with her humans and is the kind of dog who pours her whole heart into loving her person. Once she decides you’re her person, she will happily follow you around and stay close by your side. Eloise can be a little shy when she first meets a new person, but give her some time to feel comfortable and you’ll get to see her personality truly blossom. Once she knows she’s safe, she becomes a confident, curious, and silly pup who absolutely soaks up all the attention and affection she can get. She loves being part of the family and thrives when she can relax and be herself in a comfortable environment. She absolutely lights up when she meets another dog and loves playing with the resident dogs and cats in her foster home. She has the cutest zoomies when she gets excited and will happily spend her day playing, wrestling, exploring, and being her goofy puppy self. She has a playful spirit and a silly charm that is impossible not to love. Outside of the home, Eloise is a little more cautious, curious, and observant. Rather than immediately jumping into every new experience, she likes to take her time, watch what’s happening around her, and process new sights, sounds, and surroundings before deciding she’s ready to investigate. Because of this, she would do best with a family who understands that she is more of a homebody than a social butterfly. Busy public outings in crowded environments aren't really her idea of a good time. She much prefers the comfort of home, sunbathing in the backyard, exploring quiet nature trails, or going on long hikes where she can spend quality time with her family and the people she trusts. Eloise would be an incredible companion for someone looking for a loyal shadow, loving cuddle buddy, and sweet, sensitive dog who wants to be deeply connected to her family. She may need a little patience and consistency as she continues building confidence, but once she trusts you, she gives her whole heart in return.

Eloise is medium, so she is best described as an active couch potato. She's happy to lounge around as long as her humans are busy, but the minute you want to go outside and go on a fun adventure, she's ready to go too. She enjoys going on short leisurely walks around neighborhood, and also on long, adventures hiking and exploring nature trails. She has short bursts of energy that requires longer walks or play time multiple times a day, then you can catch her snuggling up on the couch for a long nap after. She would love to have a family that enjoys exploring nature, going on hikes, and spending quality time soaking up the sunshine. She also loves playing with toys, romping around with her doggy friends, and cuddling on the couch with her foster mom. While she enjoys playing with her doggy friends, she’s also perfectly content to entertain herself with her favorite toys when she can't find anyone to play with. She is highly food motivated and loves play mental stimulation games, like puzzles that involve her favorite treats. If you work from home, she will happily hang out on a dog bed beside you working on long lasting bones like bully sticks while you work. Her ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, ropes, and chew toys, and she’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month.

Eloise is dog and cat friendly, and would be able to live with kids in their teens that can understand that she is a bit shy at first and will give her time to get comfortable around new people. She is very easy to handle and is very submissive even when she's nervous or scared, so a family with patient older kids would be okay. No young children because she would probably just hide from them. One of Eloise’s favorite things is spending time with her furry friends. She is currently in a foster home with a high energy large adult dog and she really enjoys having a dog friend. She would benefit from having a playful, confident dog in her forever home so that she can continue learning to build her own self confidence. She is always happy when she sees another dog and loves making new furry friends. She knows proper doggy communication skills and how to respect boundaries with doggy friends, and takes correction well if other dogs communicate that they don't want to play. She doesn't like to share her chew bones with other dogs and will find a spot to chew on it where she won't be bothered by another dog trying to steal it from her. There are two cats in her foster home and she doesn't pay any attention to it most of the time. Sometimes she tries to engage in play with them, but respects their boundaries once tell her to back off. She would do best with dog-friendly cats that have lived with dogs before as she does enjoy hanging around them.

Eloise is kennel trained, leash trained, and potty trained. She will sleep in a kennel at night with no fuss if she has to, but enjoys a treat and one of her favorite stuffed animals as she is tucked into bed for the night. She really loves when she gets to sleep in bed with her foster mom though and would love to snuggle up in bed with her family every night so she can get in as many cuddles as possible. She does need to be kenneled when left alone though because she's still a young pup and will be tempted to get into things if she's left unattended for 8+ hours during the day. When she needs to go outside and potty she will walk to the back door and start circling around to notify you she needs to go out. She is comfortable walking on a leash and enjoys going out for walks around the neighborhood. She does get excited when she sees other dogs, but is easily redirected with some yummy treats. She is happy to go on leisurely walks around the neighborhood but really loves to go on longer hiking trails where she can sniff and explore. She does need someone that either works from home or is home more often than not. She would really benefit from having a family that can commit to spending time continuing to expand her horizons and build her confidence out in the world.

Eloise's ideal home would be a house with a fenced in backyard to run around and play in. She currently lives in an apartment foster home and has done well there, but she would absolutely love a quieter, calmer home environment where she has more space to stretch her legs and enjoy some peaceful outdoor time. She is comfortable going up and down stairs so she would do fine living in a home with stairs. No public dog parks for this sweet girl because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. Instead she would love to go on fun outings at Sniff Spots if she doesn't have a fenced in backyard to run around and play in. She would do love to have a family that has another friendly, active, playful dog and would coexist well if there's a kitty in the home too. Her ideal family is one that wants a playful pup to join in on fun outdoor adventures and also cuddle up on the couch after. Eloise’s ideal family is one that understands her sensitive side, gives her time to warm up, and appreciates that she’s happiest in a calm home environment. She would love a family who wants a playful companion to join them for outdoor adventures, backyard playtime, sunny afternoons, and exploring, but who is equally happy to come home, relax on the couch, and enjoy some serious cuddle time. Eloise is looking for a family who will let her be her goofy, playful self while giving her the patience, security, and unconditional love she needs to continue blossoming into the amazing companion she’s meant to be.
