Romy is a sweet, loyal 1 year old chihuahua/terrier mix that weighs 8 lbs lbs. She is fully grown and will not get any larger. Romy is the definition of a sweet, gentle soul. She is calm, loving, affectionate, and happiest when she’s simply spending time with the people she loves. She is truly a social butterfly and loves everyone she meets. Her gentle, friendly nature makes her the type of dog who can happily accompany her family when they have visitors over and when they go on adventures around town. She is truly the type of dog that just blends seamlessly into whatever environment she is in and is always happy just being in her human's presence, no matter what you're doing. If you want to have a lazy movie day and cuddle on the couch, she's up for it. If you want to go on a walk around the park, she's ready when you are. If you want to go to dog-friendly places around town, she's always happy to join. She is the perfect companion for someone who wants a little friend curled up beside them while they read, watch a movie, work from home, or relax at the end of the day. Though she enjoys her relaxation time, Romy also has a playful side. She loves playing with her favorite squeaky toys and doing little zoomies around the room when you walk in the door. She’s wonderful at entertaining herself and is incredibly easy to live with. If you work from home, she’s the perfect companion. She's content to snooze, chew on a bone, or entertain herself with her toys while you work, but always ready to squeeze in a snuggle session between meetings. She also has enough personality and playful spirit to keep things fun. She’ll make you laugh with her zoomies, melt your heart with her cuddles, and make you smile when you realize she has quietly followed you into yet another room. She would love nothing more than to spend her days beside someone who will love her as much as she loves them. If you’re looking for a tiny best friend with a gentle heart and a whole lot of love, Romy may be the one you’ve been waiting for.
Romy is lower energy, so she isn’t the type of dog who needs to be constantly on the go or entertained from morning to night. Most of the time, she is perfectly happy lounging nearby and soaking up the peaceful comfort of having her favorite people close. But don’t let her calm nature fool you, Romy has the cutest little bursts of energy and will happily burn them off with a few adorable zoomies around the house. After her zoomie session, she’s usually ready to settle back down and relax. She has a wonderful off-switch and seems to understand that there is a time for play and a time for simply enjoying a cozy afternoon. She would be perfectly content to spend a quiet morning lounging beside you, take a little break to play, and then curl up for a nap while you work or relax. Romy also enjoys getting out of the house for leisurely walks around the neighborhood or exploring nature trails with her family. Another thing Romy really enjoys is spending time with her doggy friends. She has a playful side that comes out when she’s around other dogs she knows and enjoys having furry companions to interact with. But if there is one thing that truly makes Romy happy, it’s having her humans involved. Tossing her favorite toy around the yard would be her idea of a perfect afternoon. She’ll happily chase after a squeaky toy, stuffed animal, or a tiny tennis ball. Romy doesn’t need you to entertain her every minute of the day. She is perfectly content to entertain herself for a while with her toys or a favorite chew when her humans are busy. She seems happiest simply knowing her people are close. Whether you’re working, watching television, reading, relaxing outside, or moving around the house, Romy is perfectly happy to be your little companion and quietly enjoy being part of whatever you’re doing. Her favorite activities really are anything that involves her humans. A walk together, a little game in the yard, exploring somewhere new, playing with her toys, or simply relaxing side by side, she's always happy as long as she gets to spend time with you. Her ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, stuffed animals, and tiny tennis balls, and she’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month.
Romy is dog friendly and kid friendly, but hasn't been tested with cats yet. In her foster home, she lives with both large and small dogs that range in age from young adult to senior. She does well with them all, and is respectful of their personal space. She really is the type of dog that just wants to coexist around other dogs at first until she's comfortable around them. Once she's comfortable, she lets her guard down and will start playing with them. She is avoidant when it comes to conflict with other dogs and if another dog is reactive towards her, she will try her best to avoid them and just walk away. She would do perfectly fine being the only dog in the home and would probably prefer it because she really just loves being with her humans the most. But if there was another dog in the home, she would do best with a laid back, easy going dog that doesn't mind sharing their human with her. Romy has done well with kids she has met, but due to her tiny size, it is recommended no babies or toddlers that could accidentally hurt her. She would do great with older kids that are cognizant of her itty bitty size. She loves to be loved on and is very gentle when she asks for affection. She has not been introduced to cats inside the home, but hasn't shown any interest to outdoor cats she's come across on walks. If there is a cat in the home, a dog-friendly cat that would be welcoming of her in the home is a must.
Romy is kennel trained, potty trained, and leash trained. She sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss and just likes to be tucked into bed with a yummy treat to work on until she falls asleep. She would really love to sleep in bed with her humans in her forever home so she can be close to them while she sleeps. She is potty trained and will not have an accident in the house as long as she is taken out for consistent potty breaks every few hours. She is the type of pup that likes to take her time when she goes outside and she wants her human to be out there with her when she goes. She does sleep through the night without needing to go outside, so don't worry, she won't wake you up in the middle of the night for a potty break. She is comfortable walking on a leash and enjoys going on short walks around the neighborhood. For longer walks, she may ask to be picked up if her little legs get tired though.
Romy's ideal home would be one where she can be included in her family’s daily life and get plenty of love and attention. She would love to live in a home with a fenced yard because she enjoys sunbathing on the patio, but she’d also be perfectly content in an apartment, condo, or townhouse as long as her human works from home. She does not enjoy being left alone for long days, so she may start to get antsy if her human is gone all day every day for long periods. She would thrive in a home with another laid back dog or a dog-friendly cat. No public dog parks for this sweet girl because who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways. In her forever home, Romy would thrive with a family who enjoys a relaxed lifestyle but still wants a little companion to join them for everyday adventures. She would love casual neighborhood walks during the week, opportunities to explore new places and nature trails, and plenty of play sessions sprinkled throughout her day. She doesn’t need an intensely active household; she simply wants to be included.
