DESCRIPTION
Meet Abdul!
Abdul is a 9-year-old Shih Tzu mix with a gentle soul and the sweetest little face. Weighing about 10 pounds, he's the kind of dog who's happiest simply being near his people.
He was found as a stray with a microchip, but despite every effort, no one came for him. We'll probably never know what happened, but it's easy to believe he once had a family of his own. Abdul is well-socialized, appears to be both crate and potty trained, and has the calm, easygoing demeanor of a dog who's spent his life as a beloved companion.
Abdul gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and children, making him an easy fit for many homes. He only has one eye, but it doesn't slow him down or dampen his spirit. After spending time on his own, his coat became badly matted, but he'll soon be freshly groomed and feeling like himself again.
Abdul is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and heartworm negative. Now all he needs is a family to give him the love and security every dog deserves. If you're looking for a loyal little companion to share life's quieter moments, Abdul is ready to be by your side.

Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as our website, Chewy, Pet Finder, and others. These are in no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed.
***Take Paws Rescue, based in New Orleans, saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it's the perfect match!
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
The Shih Tzu is a small, affectionate dog breed known for its distinctive appearance, with a luxurious double coat, a short muzzle, and large round eyes. Originally bred as companion dogs for Chinese royalty, Shih Tzus are friendly, outgoing, and loving pets. They are known for their playful and charming personality, making them great family pets and suitable for apartment living. With their low shedding coat and adorable face, Shih Tzus are popular among dog lovers worldwide.
