Meet Asher!
How many people drove past him before one person finally said, "Not today. You're coming with me."
This handsome young boy was found wandering alone through a wooded neighborhood-far too thin, hungry, exhausted, and carrying the cautious look of a dog who had spent far too long surviving on his own. While others saw him and kept going, one Good Samaritan couldn't ignore those soulful brown eyes pleading for help. Even though they were trying to get to work, they knew this sweet dog deserved more than another day alone.
Now safe in a loving foster home with Take Paws Rescue, this approximately 40-pound Labrador/Plott Hound mix is finally learning what it feels like to be safe.
His sleek black coat is accented with beautiful brindle markings on his face and legs, and his warm amber eyes seem to tell the story of everything he's endured. At first, he's understandably a little shy, watching quietly to make sure you're someone he can trust. But once he realizes he's safe, his walls melt away.
In less than 24 hours, his foster says he transformed into a complete "love bug." He happily curls up beside his people, leans in for affection, and soaks up every bit of kindness he's been missing.
He's wonderfully gentle with dogs of all sizes and has shown excellent manners around his foster's kitten, proving he has a sweet, respectful nature. He's simply looking for someone willing to give him a little patience while he learns that love isn't temporary.
Right now, he's underweight and needs to gain a few healthy pounds, but that's easy to fix. The harder part-finding someone who will never let him wonder where he belongs again-is what we're hoping you can help with.
Before going to his forever home, Take Paws Rescue will ensure Asher is:
Neutered
Microchipped-so he'll never be lost in the world again.
Up to date on all vaccinations.
Every dog deserves someone who chooses them.
This sweet boy has already been chosen once by the stranger who refused to leave him behind. Now he's hoping someone will choose him forever.
If you've been looking for a loyal companion with a gentle heart, soulful eyes, and endless love to give, this handsome boy is waiting for you.
Could your couch-and your heart-be the place he finally gets to call home?
