Southport - Shih Tzu and Mixed Breed Dog for Adoption in Madison, Wisconsin

Meet Southport!

This sweet 3-year-old Shih Tzu mix came to us from a hoarding case in Missouri and is just beginning to discover what life has to offer. While the world around him is still new, Southport has been showing his brave and curious side as he slowly settles into his surroundings. He's still learning how to be a dog and will need a patient, understanding family willing to give him the time and space he needs to build confidence at his own pace.

With kindness and consistency, Southport has so much love to give and is ready to start his next chapter with a family who will help him feel safe and cherished. His beautiful coat will also require regular, lifelong grooming to keep him comfortable and looking his best. If you have a little extra patience and a lot of love to share, Southport could be the perfect little companion to grow alongside you!

All of our dogs are dewormed, spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and heartworm tested if they are old enough. If you're interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website at https://www.sftsrescue.org/adoptable-dogs

The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
