ADOPTION INFORMATION
Rumi is currently in foster care in South Korea and will travel to the United States with a flight volunteer once matched with a suitable family. Every vetted applicant selected to adopt her receives a two-week trial and monitoring period with rescue support.

Rumi is a gentle, affectionate, and quiet companion who enjoys relaxing at home, daily walks, and playful time with her person. She lives peacefully with a cat and is fully outdoor potty trained in her current home.
Her ideal family offers a calm household and a quieter neighborhood. Adults or families with older, respectful children are preferred because sudden movements, loud voices, and barking dogs can startle her. She needs patient guidance as she gains confidence on walks.

PEOPLE AND CHILDREN

Rumi enjoys being close to her person and asking for attention or playtime. She is usually calm but becomes lively and enthusiastic during play.

CATS
Rumi lives comfortably with her foster family's cat. She does not chase, persistently follow, or show aggression toward the cat. She may occasionally sniff when they are nearby.
She has also remained calm when receiving treats alongside the cat, without stealing or competing. A home with cats could be a good match, with gradual, supervised introductions.

OTHER DOGS
Large Dogs: May startle and move away when a large dog suddenly barks or jumps. Responds to her handler's guidance; no aggressive barking or lunging observed.
Small Dogs: May growl if a small dog barks intensely at her, but has not lunged.
Introductions should be calm and unhurried, with space to move away from overwhelming interactions.

HOME LIFE AND TIME WITHOUT PEOPLE
Current Schedule: Approximately 5 to 10 hours without her caregiver, in a home with a resident cat.

Resting: Usually relaxes or sleeps on bedding on the floor. Sometimes rests in her crate.

WALKS AND EXERCISE

CAR RIDES AND CRATE

Current Food: Hill's Large Breed kibble
Eating Habits: May eat slowly and cautiously while adjusting. Plain dry food can be less appealing, so her foster mixes it with canned food.
Favorites: Cooked beef, turkey chews, chicken breast jerky, and smooth pate-style wet food.

RESCUE STORY
Rumi was rescued from the overcrowded Jeongeup Municipal Shelter in rural South Korea after a planned adoption fell through and she was placed on the euthanasia list. She is now enjoying a peaceful home with her caregiver and a cat while waiting for a permanent family.

The Jindo, a Korean native breed renowned for its loyalty, courage, and intelligence, is highly prized for its unwavering loyalty to its family. This medium sized, spitz type dog has a distinctive double coat that sheds seasonally. Known for their independent nature, Jindos require early socialization and firm, consistent training. With a strong prey drive and territorial instincts, they excel as hunters and watchdogs. Their deep bonds with their owners make them loving companions, albeit not suitable for inexperienced owners.

The Shiba Inu is a small to medium sized dog breed known for its fox like appearance, with a curled tail and upright ears. Originating from Japan, Shiba Inus are independent, alert, and spirited dogs. They are loyal to their families but can be reserved around strangers. Recognized for their bold and confident nature, Shiba Inus require consistent training and socialization to thrive. With a thick double coat and a distinct red, sesame, or black and tan coloration, Shiba Inus are charming companions for active individuals or families.
