ADOPTION INFORMATION
Cheddar is currently in foster care in South Korea and will travel to the United States with a flight volunteer once matched with a suitable family. Every vetted applicant selected to adopt him receives a two-week trial and monitoring period with rescue support.

PLEASE READ FIRST
Cheddar is a playful, affectionate little companion who gets along well with small dogs and cats. His ideal home offers daily walks, playtime, and a calm atmosphere without very young children or large resident dogs.
He is sensitive to loud noises and changes in his environment. His foster recommends allowing about two weeks to become comfortable, with adjustment time varying by home. He also has some marking behavior, so regular outdoor potty breaks and continued training are important.
Cheddar has successfully completed heartworm treatment and now tests negative.

PERSONALITY AND PEOPLE
Cheddar enjoys toys, zoomies, playing with other dogs, and spending time with his person. He watches the other dogs closely and sometimes copies what they do. He sits calmly when held and happily follows someone offering treats.
Visitors: May bark briefly when someone unfamiliar enters the home. Calling his name and offering a treat usually helps him settle quickly.
Women: Generally approaches more readily.
Men: May bark at unfamiliar men, particularly those who are tall or have a larger build. No biting or lunging reported; he needs a little time to get acquainted.
Children: Generally shows little interest. A home without very young children is preferred because loud noise and excessive activity can overwhelm him.

OTHER DOGS AND CATS
Small Dogs: Gets along well with the poodle, dachshund, mixed breed dog, and puppy in his foster home. Enjoys playing and walking with them.
Large Dogs: Generally uninterested. Dislikes dogs that approach too closely or push their faces into his space, although no barking or biting was reported in these situations. A home without large dogs is preferred.
Cats: Lives very comfortably with two adult cats and one kitten.
Resource Guarding: None observed.

POTTY TRAINING AND MARKING
Cheddar primarily goes outdoors and uses an indoor potty pad when needed. His foster reports no routine potty accidents, but some marking occurs.
Regular walks are important. His foster uses a belly band indoors when he misses a walk. Adopters should expect to continue outdoor potty training and manage marking during adjustment.

HOME LIFE AND TIME WITHOUT PEOPLE
Current Schedule: Approximately 9 hours without his caregiver on weekdays, with other pets present.
Separation Anxiety: None observed in this setting. His ability to stay completely alone without animal companionship has not been established.
Destructive Behavior: None observed.
Resting: Plays with the other dogs, then naps in the living room. Currently sleeps in his caregiver's bed at night.
Crate: Enjoys resting and sleeping inside his crate.

WALKS AND PLAY
Current Routine: Approximately one hour of walking each evening.
Cheddar eagerly enjoys walks and walks well alongside the other dogs. Loud noises may cause him to pause briefly.
Recall: Recognizes his name and comes readily when called with a treat.
Favorite Activities: Squeaky toys, crinkle toys, tug, playing with other dogs, and running on grass in a securely enclosed area.

CAR RIDES AND GROOMING
Car Rides: Travels well on drives and trips without reported motion sickness.
Bathing: Very cooperative.
Tooth Brushing: Does not particularly enjoy it but allows it.

FOOD
Current Food: Salmon-based kibble
Treats: Enjoys a wide variety and is not picky.
Feeding Habits: Currently free fed and eats at his own pace, often waiting until the other dogs finish.

HEALTH AND PREVENTION
Current Health: Reported as healthy, with no additional health concerns noted.
Heartworm: Treatment successfully completed; now testing negative.
Last Reported Parasite Prevention: NexGard on September 13.
Ongoing Prevention: Continue veterinarian-approved heartworm, flea, tick, and intestinal parasite prevention on the prescribed monthly schedule throughout the year, including winter.

RESCUE STORY
Cheddar was rescued shortly before euthanasia from the overcrowded Jeongeup Municipal Shelter in rural South Korea. He is now enjoying life in a home with other dogs and cats while waiting for a family of his own.

The Pomeranian is a small dog breed known for its vibrant personality and fluffy coat. Originating from Pomerania in Central Europe, these dogs are intelligent, alert, and exceptionally friendly, making them excellent companions for both individuals and families. Pomeranians require regular grooming to maintain their luxurious double coat, which can come in various colors.
