DESCRIPTION

Hiya friends! My name is TACO, and here is some information about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

Breed: McNab / Shepherd Mix (best guess!)
Age: Approximately 3 years (Est. DOB: August 1, 2023)
Gender: Male
Weight: 59 lbs (27 kg)
Height: 70 cm (paws to top of my head); 45 cm (paws to shoulders)
Length: 80 cm
Neck: 42 cm
Chest: 76 cm
Current Location: MEXICO CITY

RESCUE STORY – My previous family dropped me off for boarding one day when I was just a young pup. Unfortunately, they never returned to pick me up. After many failed attempts to contact my owners, the boarding facility realized I had been abandoned. I've lived at the boarding facility ever since and have been very happy here; the staff treat me so well! I get lots of human interaction (which I absolutely LOVE) and play with my doggie friends all day long! As much fun as I'm having here, I'm ready to find a family and home to call my very own after years of patiently waiting.

TEMPERAMENT – Despite my tough beginnings, I'm a very well-adjusted guy! I'm friendly, affectionate and playful with my people and puppy friends. I love to say hello to new people while out on walks and welcome as many pets and head scratches as I can get! Something else about me? I'm VERY food-motivated (mmm mmm, treats!), which helps with my training! Despite being a big foodie, I haven't shown any resource guarding and am used to eating alongside my foster brothers and sisters (check out this video of us at dinner time).

NOTE: It is important to consider "breed need" when adopting. McNabs & Shepherds are intelligent, athletic, and eager to learn. These working breeds thrive with adopters who can provide regular physical exercise, mental enrichment, and consistent, positive training. They enjoy having a job to do, whether that's hiking, exploring, advanced training, scent work, or puzzle games. This mix is best suited to an active home that understands the needs of working dogs and is committed to providing structure, enrichment, and plenty of opportunities to use both their body and brain. With the right guidance, they make incredibly loyal and devoted companions.

ENERGY LEVEL – Medium / High. In two words, I'd say I'm an energetic goofball!! I really love playing (video) and spending time outdoors, and think I would thrive in an active family that wants to take me along on adventures! That being said, I'm a good boy who can also be calm (check out this video of me nicely posing for a photoshoot!) I am likely not suited for apartment living and would thrive in a home with some room for me to run (and/or a very active adopter!)

GETS ALONG WITH:

Kids – Unknown.
Dogs – Yes. I currently live with dogs of all sizes and love playing with them!
Cats – Unknown.

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

Leash skills – Work in progress. I haven't shown any nervousness or reactivity on my walks; however, because I'm a bundle of energy, I sometimes get overexcited and pull (there's just so much to see and sniff out there!) I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success!
House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

I am neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax ($750.00 + 5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
