Hi everybodyyyy! My name is Kai and here's more about me:

Height: 50cm (paws to top of my head)
Length: 70 cm (head to butt)

RESCUE STORY - My life hasn't been the easiest. My hooman angel rescuers found me as a stray living on the streets of Guadalajara, super super skinny. Sadly, I was being kicked and harrassed by a person while I was only trying to find some food. Someone had reported me to my rescuers and they swooped in, deciding they had to do something because of my poor state - I was only skin and bones. When they rescued me, they noticed I developed resource guarding and prey instinct because of the tough times I had when I was on the streets. They took me in and started working with some trainers, and I've made some progress but I still don't much like other dogs. My rescuers say I don't bark or anything (as you can see here), I just don't like them...Because of this, I would thrive in a home as an only pup where I get all the attention of my hoomans - as I am super affectionate with people!
TEMPERAMENT - Given my backstory, I'm a strong pup for sure! I'm not noisy or jumpy, and I really love people. I also loooove cuddles and belly rubs, treats and being around my hoomans. My energy levels can be medium to high and I would do well with an active family (A runner would be amazing for me but I would also do great in a place with a backyard or regular daily walks!).
ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - High
GETS ALONG WITH:
Kids – Unknown but testing can be requested
Dogs – No thank you.
Cats – Unknown but unlikely due to my prey drive.
PREY DRIVE - Yes I have shown a prey drive. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.
TRAINING:
Leash skills – In progress. I may need some help with my leash manners and it's always recommended to get an easy walk harness. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success!
House trained – My rescuer says I am good with this but I may need some additional training and patience.
Crate trained – My rescuer says this is a work in progress and I may need some additional training and patience.
Car rides – My rescuer says this is a work in progress and I may need some additional training and patience.
Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.
HEALTH NOTES:
I am spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying to Canada.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.
ADOPTION FEE:
My adoption fee is $728.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
