RESCUE STORY - My rescue story is all too common, I was found wandering the streets near Chalco, Mexico. At time of rescue I was suffering from a severe bit injury, I was in heat and overall in pretty rough shape. My rescuers think I had been used for breeding then discarded, who could do that to a sweet girl like me?! I was transported to the animal hospital where I stayed for 15-days recovering from my injury and gaining strength. Today, I am fully healed and ready to start living the beautiful life I deserve!
TEMPERAMENT - Despite my rough start, my rescuer says I hold no grudges and have lots of love to give! It's true! You could also say I'm a social butterfly! I get along well with humans and my fellow pups here at the shelter, even new people! I am a true cuddle bug and will politely offer you my paw for more attention, like in this video!
ENERGY LEVEL - Medium/Low - While I do enjoy to be fun and playful, my rescuer describes me as a chill pup who is deeply affectionate. I'm happy to just lounge and be loved! Here is a video of me relaxing with my friends at the shelter. Another fun fact about me - my favorite treat is carrots! I eat in a communal space and show no signs of resource guarding. I'm a gentle gal in search of a loving family of my very own, as I have so much love to give!
GETS ALONG WITH:
Kids – Unknown, I don't have any known experience around kiddos just yet!
Dogs – Yes! Here is a video of me greeting a familiar dog, and here is a video of me meeting a new dog.
Cats – Yes, check out this video of me greeting a cat!
PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.
TRAINING:
Leash skills – Pretty good, but I'm still learning! I will need an adopter who is happy to work with me on my leash manners. A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help set me up for success! Watch videos of me walking on a leash here and here.
House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :)
HEALTH NOTES:
I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records.
I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.
ADOPTION FEE:
My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
