RUBY
Schnauzer, Mixed Breed

West Peoria, Illinois

female, medium, baby
DESCRIPTION
Ruby is a very sweet and affectionate 5 1/2 month old wire haired puppy. The animal control had her listed as a schnauzer mix but that is just a guess. She did not seem to shed when she was given a bath in her foster home but we will not claim her as non-shedding or hypoallergenic since we are not sure of her breed. Please do not apply if you can only have hypoallergenic dogs as we do not want to risk her possibly being returned for this reason. Ruby loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home and sleep in bed with her humans. She had a few accidents in the house her first 2 days in her foster home but quickly figured out the doggie door and knows to do her potty breaks outdoors. She has terrier puppy energy and is very food driven so training will be adventurous and fun! Ruby has been around toddlers and small kids and absolutely adores them. The more kids the better for this fun little girl. Oh, it should also be noted that a baby gate or exercise pen will not hold Ruby back from being with you, she can climb them. She has not escaped her fenced in yard however, so maybe she just climbs indoor shorter barriers? If you want an adorable, wire haired, determined, funny, goofy, sweet, medium sized dog then this is the girl for you! She is currently about 25 pounds and is expected to be 35-40 when full grown. Ruby's adoption fee of $300 covers her spay, microchip with registration, vaccines, and current monthly flea and heartworm preventions. Please apply at gfrpets.org/apply.
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
The schnauzer is a versatile and intelligent dog breed known for its distinctive beard and eyebrows. They come in three sizes - miniature, standard, and giant - each with their own unique personalities and characteristics. Schnauzers are loyal, playful, and make excellent family pets. They require regular grooming to maintain their wiry coat and love to be included in activities with their human companions. With proper training and socialization, schnauzers can thrive in various roles, from loving companion to skilled working dog.
