Francois - LOCAL CT - Poodle Dog for Adoption in Princeton, Massachusetts

Francois is an 8-10-year-old Poodle boy with a big personality, an even bigger heart, and no problem letting you know he wants to be wherever you are. He's a people lover, a dog lover (the bigger the better!), and definitely a bit of a clinger. In his mind, being close to his person is exactly where he belongs.

Francois has had a bit of a winding road to get here. He was first surrendered in Connecticut after a woman took him in through Facebook, only to realize that his medical needs were more than she could manage. Francois had some pretty severe skin issues at the time, but with proper care, medication, and grooming, his skin is now under control.

Paws New England stepped in, and shortly afterward Francois went to Old Dogs Go to Helen, an amazing senior dog sanctuary in New Hampshire. Helen thought he might be a perfect fit there and was prepared to keep him. But something funny happened -- Francois started feeling better. His skin improved, he got lots of attention, and he showed everyone that he still has plenty of life left in him.

He loves playing ball, going for walks, riding in the car, and settling in for some TV and cuddling at night. He has plenty of pep for an older guy and is pretty darn adorable when he gets the zoomies.

And the dogs? Francois is fabulous with them. When he first met his foster's two big dogs, he walked in like a tiny general surveying his new kingdom. Within a couple of hours, he was doing play bows and zooming around with them like he had known them forever. Bigger dogs are definitely his favorite.

He has also done well meeting young children, including children as young as three, and he has lived with cats in the past.

Francois has been owner-surrendered twice, and neither time was because of anything he did wrong. Life just kept changing around him. Through all of it, he has remained the same sweet, affectionate, happy little guy.

What Francois really wants now is pretty simple: a person or family who is around much of the time and wants a companion. He can be an only dog or live with other dogs. He enjoys walks and activities, but he is equally happy curled up beside you. He does get anxious when left alone for long stretches, so he isn't looking for a home where everyone is gone all day.

He's looking for someone who wants a little shadow, a walking buddy, a car-ride companion and, most importantly, a dog who will happily take up residence on your lap.

Adoption Fee Includes spay /neuter surgery rebate to be paid to the adopter when proof of spay/neuter is provided to Paws New England. We can provide adopters with a list of low-cost SN clinics when requested.

The adoption fee also includes the transport fee when applicable

ATTENTION PUPPY ADOPTERS: You must attend training/behavior classes with your new dog unless you are an experienced dog owner and your adoption coordinator is comfortable with your experience. This requirement is for your benefit and your puppy's, so if you experience behavioral issues, you have a point of contact.

PLEASE--Think long and hard before adopting a puppy. Consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with. He cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours until he's older. Puppy-proofing your home will be necessary. Puppies scratch and nip, so if you have small children, can they handle this? Training will be so crucial in this puppy's life. Do you have the time?
