Missy - Pomeranian Dog for Adoption in Brookings, South Dakota

Missy is a 9-and-a-half-year-old female Pomeranian looking for her forever retirement home. At just 9.4 pounds, she's a petite little lady who's spayed, fully up to date on her vet care, and reliably house trained.

Missy has spent time in a foster home and has done well with the other dogs there, so she'd likely be a good fit for a home with a calm canine companion or two. That said, she's really looking for a slower, quieter life — think cozy naps, a sunny spot on the couch, and gentle daily routines rather than high-energy adventures.

She'd thrive with adopters who appreciate a senior's pace: someone home more often than not, who's happy to offer soft pets, a warm bed, and the kind of steady, low-key companionship that makes a dog's golden years truly golden.

Since many of our adoptable dogs are in foster homes, appointments are highly recommended to ensure the animal you are interested in is currently at the shelter. Please call or e-mail the shelter to set up an appointment to meet and adopt!

Our adoption fees include the following: all of our dogs/puppies are current on vaccinations (DHPP and Rabies if over 3 months of age) at the point of adoption, dewormed, heartworm tested and current on preventative, microchipped, treated for fleas/ticks and are spayed or neutered. Our large dog adoption fee is generally $175 + tax. Our small dog and puppy adoption fee is generally $300+ tax. Adoption fees may vary in special circumstances. Due to space limitations, we do not hold dogs.

Because we are on a busy street, we require that all dogs leaving the shelter be in a carrier or on leash. All pets remain up for adoption until an approved application is processed and their adoption fee paid.

Pomeranians require regular grooming to maintain their luxurious double coat, which can come in various colors.
