Meet Martina!

She was hungry, she was scared, and she was trying to survive.

Somewhere on the streets of Puerto Rico, Martina and her brother were struggling to stay alive. They were starving and frightened, with no safe place to sleep and no idea what their future held.

Then someone stopped.

One of our incredible rescue partners found them and saved their lives.

And today, it's almost hard to believe this is the same little girl.

Meet Martina.

At just 7 months old and 28 pounds, Martina is a beautiful, sweet soul with the most gorgeous brown eyes. The kind of eyes that seem to look right into your heart.

Martina is incredibly loving and gets very attached to her person. Once she knows you're hers, she wants nothing more than to be close to you. She is eager to please and has such a gentle, loving personality.

And she's wonderfully well behaved, too.

Martina is great with other dogs and cats. She's quiet, house trained, crate trained, and great on a leash. She is the kind of dog who is ready to become someone's constant companion, walking beside them, curling up nearby, and finally knowing what it feels like to be safe.

We look at Martina's beautiful, soulful eyes and wonder what they have seen.

She has known hunger.

She has known fear.

But she has also learned that people can be kind.

Now she needs someone to show her that kindness can last forever.

Martina has already been given a second chance at life.

All she needs now is the family who will make sure she never has to wonder where her next meal is, where she will sleep, or whether she is loved.

Because this sweet girl deserves a life where she knows the answer to all three.
