Our adoption application can be found at the bottom of this pet's bio. Once your application has been approved, we can arrange a virtual meet & greet with you and Gus-Gus.
Gus-Gus is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX and is eligible to transport to an adopter as soon as one is lined up.
Meet Gus-Gus!
Gus-Gus is a 7 year old, male Plott Hound / Lab mix. Gus-Gus is fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and ready to find his forever home! Gus currently weighs 61 pounds.
Gus-Gus (AKA Gus) was found as a stray, by a kind Samaritan. She took him in and reached out to us for help with finding him a forever home and we agreed to bring him into our program!
Gus is dog friendly and currently lives with multiple other dogs of all ages, sizes and genders. He gets along great with everyone! He doesn't mind the 8 month old puppy and his rambunctious energy, but if he had his way, he'd prefer an older and slightly more calm playmate in his forever home. Gus is an older guy who would probably prefer a more calm and chill friend who would sleep on the couch with him and have short play sessions. We would say he has a very calm and relaxed temperament and energy level. He also does enjoy running and playing outside occasionally. We're not sure if he knew how to play with other dogs at first, but now he will play a little and run around with them!
We would suggest a home for Gus without cats. While he currently lives with cats in his foster home, he can sometimes get overexcited around them.
Gus is kid friendly! He's been around children ages 6 months - 3 years and then children 5 years and older. He's always very calm around the kids and LOVES attention from any and everyone.
Gus walks great on the leash! He gets excited and does a little dance, but he doesn't pull. He likes to take his time and stop and smell the roses. He will walk just slightly in front of you, but he's calm on the leash and doesn't pay any attention to other dogs he sees.
Gus is fully potty trained! He'll go into the crate, but he does whine a little before settling. He is a perfect ANGEL if left out to free roam. He just hangs out and waits for me to return!
Gus is great about sharing his toys and treats with his doggie foster siblings. We don't think he's ever played with toys or had toys prior to us giving him some. He does have a stuffed ducky that we got him and we've seen him snuggling it a few times.
Here's a small blurb about Gus from his foster mom:
Gus is a sweet, calm, relaxed gentleman and is honestly the sweetest dog I've ever known! I'd say his energy level is moderate to low. He enjoys short play sessions, going on daily walks and cuddling on the couch. I think he'd be great with an older and calm friend like him OR he would also be great as the only dog and getting all of your attention! Gus is what we would describe as an introvert. He's not going to run up to anyone unless he knows you. Out on walks and when people come over to the house, he's a little shy, but once he warms up and is comfortable with you, once you give him attention, he won't stop asking for it! He enjoys daily walks and couch cuddles and he hopes that his forever home will continue those for him. He travels wonderfully in the car and seems to love going for car rides! Gus is a low-maintenance boy and will make for a wonderful companion to any loving family who will have him!
