Opalite is currently in a foster home in Houston, TX and is eligible to transport to an adopter as soon as one is lined up!
Meet Opalite AKA Opal!
Opalite came to us from a high kill shelter down in Houston, TX. She was found at a grocery store in an area that's known for strays. She was in rough shape when she was taken to the shelter and ultimately she ended up on the euthanasia list. Thankfully, an incredible foster agreed to take her in and we were able to save her before her time was up! Opal is now in a foster home, healed up and ready to find her forever home!
Opalite is estimated to be a 2 year old, female, black lab/pittie mix who currently weighs 38 pounds. Opal is fully vaccinated, microchipped, spayed and ready to find her forever home!
Opal is dog friendly and currently lives with another dog in her foster home. We'd say her energy level is moderate with small spurts of high energy and playfulness. She plays great with other dogs and is submissive and friendly towards them. She can sometimes jump and wrestle, so she'd love another dog who can match her play style.
Opal hasn't met cats yet, so we're not sure how she would react to them.
Opal is kid friendly and currently lives with 3 kids in her foster home! All children are ages 9-14 years. She absolutely LOVES kids! We would recommend a home with children ages 8+ just due to her general playfulness, but again, she loves her kiddos.
Opal is great on the leash! She doesn't pull, does well meeting other dogs and will just stay right by your side. She's a bit nervous coming up to or passing new people, but never aggressive or reactive.
Opal is fully potty trained and crate trained! She currently goes into the crate when her foster parents leave the house for errands.
Opal is great about sharing her food, toys and treats with humans and her doggie foster siblings. No resource guarding here!

Opal is the an adorable, petite little girl who is also the most friendly, loving and affectionate girl! She loves to play fetch, does great on walks and is great with other dogs. She loves kids and is friendly towards people. She can be a tiny bit shy in the beginning, but warms up quickly and loves pets and affection. Opal is super adaptable and would make for a great companion to just about any lifestyle. She's willing to hang out on the couch for movie night or she will happily accompany you on your morning run! She will lay happily at your feet with a chew bone while you work from home and she's already got her leash ready for your lunch time walk! The only quirk that we have to say about Opal is she can sometimes be a bit mouthy when playing. It's never in an aggressive way and it's something we are working on with redirection (which she has been receptive to), but something we want her potential family to be aware of. Opal would love an active home as she would make for a great adventure buddy! She is a happy, active girl who loves to play fetch, go for runs and chew her bones. She does great with other dogs and would love to have a similar energy level fur sibling to play with. Opal will be an amazing addition to an active family. She is crate and potty trained, and walks well on a leash! She's also great in the car and will just sit back and enjoy the ride. Apply to adopt this sweet girl today!
