Reuben is a focused and accomplished gentleman who is both a high-energy dynamo and a quick-witted scholar! He already boasts an impressive resume of skills, including “sit,” “lay,” “paw,” “speak,” and even “rollover!” He’s always ready for action, and while he can sometimes get a little over-eager and “snatchy” with his leashes, toys, or treats, he is a fantastic listener—once you give him a quick reminder, he responds beautifully and settles right back down.

Reuben is a true social butterfly who handles like a pro; he even accepted handling from a new friend very enthusiastically! We’ve found that he settles into a great state of relaxation after he’s had some quality time both on and off the leash to burn off that high-energy reserve.

Now let’s talk about his absolute favorite thing—tennis balls. Reuben LOVES them… like, really loves them. He’d prefer you not try to take them straight from him, but he’s been working hard on his “wait” command and has made awesome progress. With a reminder, he will pause and allow you to safely pick up his ball using a tennis ball thrower—then he’s right back to chasing it with full enthusiasm. He’s such a smart dog and will learn just about anything you’re willing to teach him—you just have to stay consistent and remind him what’s expected.

To ensure Reuben can keep up with his active lifestyle for years to come, we suspect he may have some hip or knee issues. We are currently working to raise funds for X-rays to get him the care he needs.
