DESCRIPTION
River (A142322) is a 2-year-old Pitbull mix who weighed 66.6 pounds on intake! 05/28/26 This is River! River was surrendered to the shelter due to a family emergency, not his own fault. River was born in their home and has not met many new people in his life. We encourage his next owner to work with a certified trainer to continue building his confidence and to learn a trick or two! He was described as an outgoing, friendly, and affectionate dog in the home. He was said to love his head being rubbed and finds his kennel to be his safe place! River was also noted to be kennel trained and to ride well in a car! River is a young boy and can be mischievous at times like jumping on the counters and getting into the trash when unsupervised. Providing him with plenty of mental and physical stimulation is important. If you are interested in meeting River, please let us know!
ABOUT: MIXED BREED DOG BREED
The mixed breed dogs, often referred to as mutts, are a diverse and unique group with a blend of different characteristics from various purebred dog breeds. These dogs come from a mixture of lineages, resulting in a wide range of sizes, coat types, and temperaments. While each mixed breed dog is distinct in its own right, they are known for their resilience, adaptability, and often have fewer health issues compared to purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity. Mixed breed dogs make wonderful companions for families looking for a loyal and one-of-a-kind pet.
The Pit Bull Terrier is a resilient and loyal breed known for its muscular build and loving nature. Originally bred for bull baiting and later dog fighting, Pit Bulls today are beloved family pets cherished for their gentle temperament and playful personality. With proper training and socialization, Pit Bull Terriers make affectionate companions that thrive on human interaction. Recognized for their strength and agility, these dogs require regular exercise and mental stimulation to channel their energy positively, reinforcing their reputation as devoted and trainable pets.
