Desi
I have recently arrived at The Healthy Hearts and Paws Project, and I’m afraid we need to discuss a few things.
First of all, I was found as a stray.
A STRAY.
Would someone kindly explain to me WHO LOSES THIS LITTLE FACE?!
We aren’t exactly sure how old I am, but I am most certainly a senior lady, weighing approximately 10 pounds, and the condition I arrived in was quite frankly...
DISGRACEFUL.
Fleas. So many fleas. Flea dirt everywhere. Actual freaking BUGS crawling around on me.
I don’t know where I came from or what happened before I got here, but I can assure you that a tiny senior dog should NEVER be left in that condition.
I should have been sitting on a ridiculously fluffy pillow being told how lovely I am while someone carried me from room to room because my feet simply cannot be bothered.
And speaking of being carried...
Yes, please.
I will climb directly into your lap as though I have been doing it my entire life. There is absolutely no awkward getting-to-know-you phase. If you have a lap, I shall be occupying it. If you stand up, I expect transportation arrangements to be made.
Someone actually came to meet me, and unfortunately they had a resident dog.
I met the dog.
I considered the dog.
I rejected the dog.
Rather enthusiastically, actually.
So the humans here believe I would be happiest as your one and only pet, and frankly, I see no problem with this arrangement. At my age, I have earned the right to be the entire household.
What I have NOT earned is spending my senior years frightened in a shelter.
Because that’s what I am here.
Scared.
The barking, the commotion, the kennel... this is simply not where a tiny older lady belongs.
I need a home.
I need a lap.
I need a soft bed with entirely too many blankets and perhaps one of those ridiculously overstuffed pillows that nobody is actually supposed to sit on.
And most of all, I need someone who looks at this scruffy little face and decides that whatever happened during the first part of my life will never happen to me again.
I’ve had quite enough nonsense for one lifetime.
Now, if someone could please arrange my transportation out of here, I would be most grateful.
Sincerely,
Desi
